Jane Lynch joins the Three Stooges movie

My inexplicable obsession with The Three Stooges remake continues...

Inasmuch as it is a crime against nature, sanity and all that is holy that two of the three Stooges-in-waiting are passably hot or at least kinda cute (and even Will Sasso is GQ material compared with the original), I propose that the entire project be scrapped and re-made for The Three Stoogettes. To whit:

Moe - Jane Lynch
Larry - Tina Fey
Curly - Sarah Silverman

There's your movie. Hollywood, send me my check :p

The The Three Stoogettes would be far less offensive to me.

There's simply no remaking the people who were the Stooges.

The Three Stooges always kinda scared me- similar to my fear of Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory... and my fear of clowns. I will definitely be skipping this movie!! Sorry!!!!!

This is the most bizarre idea yet. The Stooges were a comedy team who played different parts in all of their films. How do you reboot that? And if it is difficult to re-cast iconic roles, how do you re-cast actual people? You'll have actors playing comedians playing stage personas playing characters. I don't think it's really workable. But we're talking about Hollywood here, and this does seem to be the age of ultra stupidity.

I suppose you could recruit three comedians to play a new team of Stooges, but that would come with its own set of problems.

Only if the movie ends with Alec pushing Stephen in front of a bus and then saying something pithy.

This Stooges movie is a horrible, horrible slight against God. Mark my words. We're going to pay for this one somehow.

"I'm Christian Bocher. I'm portraying the character of Raymond Gunne, who portrays the character of Dr. Levant which is based on the character Daniel Jackson, portrayed by the actor Michael Shanks. Originally portrayed by the actor James Spader in the feature film. Are you all right?"

Actually, going over the top and breaking the fourth wall might be the only way to make it work. :rommie:

I can't even imagine being the writer of this. It's a total Catch 22. Three Stooges was such a unique thing that I don't even understand how to "remake" it. These guys did everything and they were never firmly even set in one particular time or place. I guess I'm also a bit amazed that this even got traction with any studio. Every time another member of the cast is announced I keep thinking "Really? That's still happening?"

You've hit upon the perfect approach to a Stooges movie. They start out as brilliant scientists who become unstuck in time and space, periodically shifting into new lives; traveling between dimensions gives them Swiss-cheese brains, explaining their incredible stupidity. In the final sequence, the boys get jobs at a movie studio producing a Three Stooges movie.

That would be so awful it might be worth seeing. :rommie:
