He had a really rough life after Airwolf with his drug and alcohol addiction. :(

TBH, it’s almost a miracle he lived this long. He broke his neck in 1996 and lost a leg in 2012. A troubled soul by the sound of things.

On the news they mentioned that when he was on Airwolf he was the highest paid actor on tv. Cocaine addiction unfortunately brought him down. I hope he finally found some peace in his life.

I never watched Airwolf. I remember him from the original version of The Mechanic with Charles Bronson, where he was outstanding, as well as handsome AF*. * - I'm not gay, so that probably means he was really handsome.

Also from Damnation Alley, riding his motorcycle through the giant scorpions, etc.

    Drug abuse sucks.

    I said out, dammit!
The Mechanic, Big Wednesday, and Hooper come to mind as a nice JMV binge watch in his honor.

As a very young boy, I first saw him on his humble acting beginnings in the Danger Island series in reruns long before Damnation Alley or Airwolf.
    RIP JMV :(

I really ought to check out some of JMV's 1970s work. Apart from Airwolf, I'm most familiar with his performance as Byron Henry in the 1983 miniseries The Winds of War, and he really gives an awesome performance there opposite the likes of Robert Mitchum, Ali MacGraw, and John Houseman.
