James Sikking. ST:III, Hill Street Blues.

Mr. Scott

Commander
I wanted to make this thread about Star Trej characters who are decendents of other characters the actors played on T.V. I thought of it as a bit of a ridiculous thread, but with one caveat.

Is Captain Styles the 6X great grandson of Lt. Howard Hunter from Hill Street Blues? James Sikking in his too small role basically played Howard Hunter without the Indonesian Dutch blend pipe. He was to the letter by the book but was easily fooled. Can it be made Star Trek cannon that he is a decendant of Howard Hunter as a salute to the series.

Has anyone else from Hill Street Blues been in Trek? Why disn't a series book Bruce Weitz as a Klingon or a crazy strong person in an episode? Daniel J. Tavanti (Furillo) would have made a wonderful Star Trek captain.

My brother and I, deeply upset at the great reveal of TNG's "Last Outpost," used to do this little routine:

Renko: Bobby Hill! Those Ferengi were the most terrifying things I have ever seen!
Hill: They weren't that scary, Renko.
Renko: They had those beady little eyes...

Has anyone else from Hill Street Blues been in Trek?

George Murdock (Cmdr. "Buck" Remington): 'The One' in ST V; Admiral Hanson in TNG's BOBW I and II

J. Patrick McNamara (Cmdr. William Lakeland): Captain Taggart of the Repulse, TNG "Unnatural Selection"

Lawrence Tierney (Sgt. Jenkins): Cyrus Redblock, TNG "The Big Goodbye"; the Regent of Palamar, DS9 "Business as Usual"

Stephen McHattie (Officer Gerry Nash): Senator Vreenak, DS9 "In the Pale Moonlight"; the mine forman in ENT "The Xindi"

Ben Slack (Officer Wallins): K'Tal, TNG "Redemption"

Capt. Harriman had that ancestor who used to hang out with his buddy, Ferris Bueller, back in the 1980s.

He had another one that liked chasing tornados, and another who worked in the NYC mayor's office. ;)

Not to mention that ancestor of Will Decker who was a minister who married Gillian Taylor's identical twin sister...;)

What really puzzles me is, who in Doc Brown's lineage ended up hooking up with a Klingon?

In addition to those Mr. Laser Beam mentioned:

Barbara Babcock (TOS "Taste of Armageddon," "Plato's Stepchildren") had a recurring role as Sgt. Esterhaus's girlfriend Grace Gardener, for which she won an Emmy.

Morgan Woodward (TOS "A Private Little War") played Renko's dad in several HSB episodes.

Jonathan Frakes played a fashion-industry drug dealer that LaRue and Washington busted.

Brent Spiner played the director of a home security video that J.D. LaRue was acting in; it turned out to really be a porno.

Penny Johnson (DS9's Kasidy Yates) played the sister of Fabian, the boy that Lucy Bates eventually adopted.

Merritt Butrick (TWOK's David Marcus) played a rapist that Belker busted in the second HSB episode.

Megan Gallagher was in two episodes of DS9 and had a starring part as Officer Tina Russo in HSB's final season.

You think that's weird? Admiral Forrest has descendants that are Klingon, Cardassian, and Borg (I don't know the unassimilated species).

Why has nobody mentioned that TJ Hooker is Jim Kirk's several times great-grandpa?

Or that Sam Beckett's repeated interference with the timeline somehow resulted in the birth of Jonathan Archer.

Poor Vaughn Armstrong...his face must be like concrete after all that alien makeup. This man has the absolute RECORD for number of races portrayed (at least EIGHT that I'm aware of, comprising over a dozen different characters).

Eight? I didn't know it was that many. What are the other five?

^ Romulan, Vidiian, Human, Kreetassan, Hirogen.

Also, the original species of whatever his Borg character was. (Technically, they are different...)
