A Hutt would have been sweet. Especially since there was like only one EU instance of a Force-sensitive Hutt and they're expected to be incapable of Jedi/Sith antics.
"Yah tay so Dark Side! Oo-hoo-hoo-hoo-hoo! Ha-ha-ha-ha!"
Or something completely fucked up and alien-looking, some unique, Cthulhu-like monstrosity, something that could stand next to OT Yoda as a one-shot mystery species. Then you tell the story completely from Palpatine's perspective, never getting into Plageuis' head.
I'm kind of meh on Luceno (His prequel stuff is decent, but his post OT stuff: Hero's Trial, Jedi Eclipse, Unifying Force & Millennium Falcon all blew to one degree or another). I'll check this out cause its on the PT side of things.
Cover is fair. The Munn looks interesting, I guess, but Palps is off. Kind of reminds me of some of those OT EU covers where none of the Heroes of Yavin look like the artist had a picture of the actors in costume to go from or, you know, any idea how to accurately draw the human form. He's not that bad, but close.
Funny that you mentioned Cthulhu, because that's what the SW writers are aiming for with the big bad of the Fate of the Jedi series.
Yeah, definitely. I'm not a huge fan of Salvatore's books, but it's ridiculous how a lot of fans reacted to Chewbacca's death in Vector Prime. And the original idea was to kill off Luke! Can you imagine how much worse the backlash would have been then?![]()
Since I've spent the last five and a half years explaining what Dark Lord said about Plagueis on other sites, including to people who had supposedly read the book, this release is going to be MUCH FUN.![]()

What are you referring to?
^ I always took that as part of Palpatine's lies to manipulate Anakin to the death. Using his vision of Padme as the trigger he told him the story of his master to lure him over to the dark side. It is probably the one thing that Palpatine was waiting for to fully lure Anakin over and he jumped at the chance. I agree, it will be interested to see if it was just words or Plaguieus actually could manipulate the Force.

What are you referring to?
Mainly the issue of whether or not Plagueis ever achieved the power to "cheat death".

What did the book say on it? I read it but not since it's original release and don't recall.
Dark Lord said:For thousands of years, the ability to survive death had been pursued by Sith and Jedi alike, and no one had been successful at discovering the secret. Beings had been saved from dying, but no one had cheated death. The most powerful of the ancient Sith lords had known the secret, but it had been lost or, rather, misplaced. Now that the galaxy was his to rule, there was nothing to prevent Sidious, too, from unlocking that mystery.

Whofab said:However the same book also said that he sent Maul to Tatooine because of Anakin, not because of the Jedi and the Queen
