Damn. I was hoping the reports were wrong. I love his body of work, with Apollo 13 and Casper being my favorite soundtracks. May he rest in peace.

What is it with planes and musicians? It's like a freaking jinx. If anyone starts to have any sort of musical success, for their own sakes they should learn to start loving boats. Flying vehicles are out to get them,

This is a devastating blow to the movie industry and a dark day for film music. He will be missed.
Damn, that sucks. One of the greatest film composers who was working today. His work will certainly be missed. RIP.
Absolutely, whenever I hear the Apollo 13 theme something gets into my eye.

A sad day indeed. My condolences to his family.
A couple of articles didn't mention Star Trek, and the one from Hollywood Reporter (linked above) say he worked on 2 Trek movies AND classics, such as . . .
