James Clyne's Concept art for Star Trek (2009)

Re: Concept art from ST(2009)

Can't...stop....looking...at... Kelvin bridge.

Why... must it... be cooler... than the Enterprise's?

Re: Concept art from ST(2009)

Wow; that artist sure knew his Trek--there's an NX-class saucer and original-series Constitution-class nacelles in that debris field over Vulcan.

Re: Concept art from ST(2009)

^Also, what appears to be a Miranda-class in the bottom-middle of the image.

Re: Concept art from ST(2009)

Personally, the Kelvin bridge looks like something out of Today's submarines, not something that's supposed to float in space a few hundred years from now. :D

However, the (asymmetrical) hallways with the grated plating are very cool.

Re: Concept art from ST(2009)

Is there ANY chance that we'll see an Art of Star Trek book?

If there's on thing I LOVE about sci-fi it's conceptual art.

Re: Concept art from ST(2009)

Yup the Kelvin bridge is really great, it looks much more functional than a Trek bridge has ever been. This guy is really talented!

Re: Concept art from ST(2009)

Did anyone else notice the Kelvin bridge pictures are labeled "Iowa_Bridge"
I wonder if they were originally going for Kirk being born on the Iowa instead of in Iowa...

Re: Concept art from ST(2009)

Why couldn't these and more have been put together in an "Art of Star Trek" book?????

Lovely images, the Kelvin bridge is indeed very cool. In fact the whole ship is!

And yet no one has any problems with the concrete floors, suspended light fixtures, steel support beams and tiny pipes with rotating knobs for the engineering set?

I also like the work done on the Narada. The picture showing it spewing exhaust is my favorite.

Re: Concept art from ST(2009)

Actually it's not the Kelvin bridge, it's the simulator bridge.

Re: Concept art from ST(2009)

Looks like the Enterprise was supposed to hitch a ride in the Narada's plasma exhaust to remain undetected.

That probably would have copied Wars a tad too much ;)

At least we wouldn't have had to deal with the stupid "Transwarp Transporter" nonsense. And copying STAR WARS is most certainly a bad thing, with the Farm Boy Luke going on to do great things, evil bald headed tattooed characters. Ya, having the Enterprise hide behind the ship in it's plasma exhaust would be the final straw for Star Wars fans everywhere I guess.
