James Cawley (New Voyages) has seen the Ship (Its Aweful)

Over at the New Voyages website James Cawley who plays Kirk has answered threads that he has seen the ship and has confirmed that it has been redesigned and he doesn't like it. He said he had friends in high places and they showed it to him when he was out there. It does not even resemble the one that we know of in the original series and was pissed they didn't keep it true because Star Trek has stayed alive for 40+ years because we love what we see. It has wings. If there is any source to trust then it is Cawley since Paramount gave him permission to create New Voyages and he has spent 100s of thousands of dollars of his own on sets and costumes from the original series. I will try to get a link to the threads. I think he is right when he says you shouldnt change something that has worked for all these years such as the Original Series. Anyway are ou ready to see the ship with wings?

Sounds like grade 'A' BS..

If paramount ever put wings on the big E they need to be kicked from here to the Guardian of Forever..

Re: James Cawley (New Voyages) has seen the Ship (Its Aweful

His words and I quote over at the thread at his website "I have friends in high places and I have seen the rebooted Enterprise. I don't like it. It suppose to be the 1701, not no bloody A,B,C,D or E. It does not look anything like the one I grew up with" He also said that why change a design when the most famous design of the Enterprise is so good enough that it sits in the Smithsonian National Aeronautics and Space Museum. He has a point.

Yeah I'll believe this when I see it. I expect some changes but I highly doubt they'd screw with it that radically.

Yep, he sure does, but I'll reserve judgement until something official comes along.

At this point in time I'm calling this horseshit. Wake me when you have something a bit more solid..

Re: James Cawley (New Voyages) has seen the Ship (Its Aweful

And the VECTORING/rotating nacelles of course.

Not quite sure that's the correct wording. Paramount/CBS is willing to treat "New Voyages" - and all other fanfilms - with the tolerance they have for all ST fanzines, fan art and customized action figures: don't sell it/them to anyone and don't make a profit unless you negotiate a license deal.

Re: James Cawley (New Voyages) has seen the Ship (Its Aweful

Remember firefly's ship had vectoring nacelles as well. The thin wings/support pylons provide confirmation. Also my source tells me this ship will land on the surface of a planet.

Re: James Cawley (New Voyages) has seen the Ship (Its Aweful

The buzzard collectors always did rotate. Anything less and I will be pissed..

Re: James Cawley (New Voyages) has seen the Ship (Its Aweful

How about a link to Cawleys comments? I'm a member of that forum and would like to read the source.

But Firefly had Nathan Fillion. Star Trek has Chris Pine.

Or more seriously: John Eaves didn't design the Serenity. He designed the Enterprise-E. The Enterprise-E does not have vectoring nacelles.

Re: James Cawley (New Voyages) has seen the Ship (Its Aweful

I could see an early version of the Enterprise having small fins along its warp nacelles in much the same fashion as the Nova-class, but if you're talking about huge, fighter plane-type wings, then not only is it wrong it's also potentially fugly.

That being said, I fully expect the Enterprise to transform into a 300-meter tall robot named Enterprise Prime...

Re: James Cawley (New Voyages) has seen the Ship (Its Aweful

I can't believe this, literally. It doesn't ring true.

So far we have seen one picture, that of Quinto as Spock, that is incredibly faithful to TOS.

Why in the hell would Abrams then move to modify the Enterprise that dramatically?

It makes no sense, as do most all the rumor posts made here.

Re: James Cawley (New Voyages) has seen the Ship (Its Aweful

More to the point: why are we even listening to someone who has been around here for all of SIX days? People like Dennis or James Cawley himself have credibility because we know them. They have a track record.

General Custer, and STARTREK11 for that matter, I want your bona fides.

Until then,

Re: James Cawley (New Voyages) has seen the Ship (Its Aweful

From all these "insider" reports, I've decided to make my own outsider report.

The new Enterprise has Nacelles that FLAP!

Flapping makes the warp bubble more stable, and provides a much needed visual to the unwashed masses that the Enterprise flies in space on the solar winds.

Think Bumblebee with a saucer stuck to it's head.

/You heard it here first. FLAPPING NACELLEWINGS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: James Cawley (New Voyages) has seen the Ship (Its Aweful

Would it be churlish to suggest that it's in Cawley's self-interest to do down this film since it will inevitably draw attention away from his fan videos?

That's ridiculous. How are they going to flap and rotate? If so, I'd imagine a large part of the thick-ass script is dedicated to explaining that. ;)

Re: James Cawley (New Voyages) has seen the Ship (Its Aweful

Yes, you got me. The big plot spoiler is: Young Spock has a 30 minute PowerPoint presentation on the advantages of the new flapping nacelles, until old Spock comes back in time and bitch slaps him back to reality.

/TIMELINE SAVED!

*ROLL CREDITS*

Thank you writers strike.

The whole movie takes place on Andoria.
