I saw the poster for the release at Best Buy yesterday and got confused. I thought DVDs always came out on Tuesdays. The 22nd is a Thursday.

I assumed this thread was back to life because Sigourney Weaver slipped and made some candid comments about why Hurt Locker won. My guess is that the issue of voting for a woman director was raised to cast voting for Hurt Locker in a liberal (or even "left") light. The primary problem was the politics. (And no, not unless you somehow promote Annalee Newitz as The Leader of the Left, can you pretend there was significant criticism from the left.)

Well she was right, whereas The Hurt Locker was a good movie it is also the lowest grossing winner of all time, and it beat the highest grossing movie of all time. I find that very bizarre.

The awards aren't based on box office - sometimes the two track well, sometimes they don't.

Well you see guys Avatar is just a Sci-Fi Pocahontas with minor plot changes. It was very meh in comparison to the reviews I saw of it. Looked amazing, but I hate 3D so much. Hurt my eyes.
