Since its original release in 1997, GoldenEye 007 has remained a beloved classic in the hearts and minds of millions of fans worldwide. Today, we’re excited to announce that a new generation of players will soon get to experience the genre-defining stealth shooter gameplay for themselves, faithfully recreated to preserve the action and excitement of the original while adding new features for the modern age of gaming.

Players will guide James Bond on a global espionage mission to prevent the devastating power of the GoldenEye satellite from being unleashed upon the world. The classic campaign mode, transformative difficulty levels and havoc-inducing cheats will all make their return – as will the iconic split-screen local multiplayer mode, allowing up to four players to take to the couch in a battle of wits and skill.

Personally, I prefer the new version of this game, but people do love classic games, so this game being on the new Microsoft systems will make a lot of people and Bondfans happy (especially the ones who played this game as kids.)

Do you expect me to buy this again?
No meeester Bond, i expect you to get it free if you have either gamepass or already own the digital version of Rare reply! Lol

But yeah nice that they are adding this to the Rare replay collection.

I'm surprised that the Xbox version is just an up-rez of the N64 version. Rare developers confirmed that the build of the HD remake (the one that was made for Xbox 360 and leaked last year) was about 98 percent complete outside of needing some bug fixes.

^^^I suspect the only way MS could ever got this game onto the xbox was to agree to any terms that Nintendo gave, so they might have taken one for the team, but part of the deal might still see the xbox remastered version appear at a later date once Ninty were allowed to announce that GE was coming to the switch at their recent direct, while MS only got to tweet about it coming for the xbox, but GE on the xbox is still a win, upscaled and patched to with modern controllers is a start and of course free to everyone who bought rare replay digitally, or gamepass users. :)

And let's not forget the weird Daniel Craig version of Goldeneye released by Activision, released for PS3, XBox and Wii, that remade the entire game using the Call of Duty engine but replacing Pierce Brosnan with Daniel Craig.

^^^They did the same thing with James Bond Legends and placed Craig into some previous Bond movies, which was ok actually to be honest as you got to relive some of the Bond movies from the franchises entire run.

That one was understandable given it was for the Bond anniversary, plus they only had the license for one likeness. From what I understand though, it wasn't a very good game.

^^It was actually ok, was interesting visiting some of the Bond movies, Moonraker, OHMSS, Goldfinger, Die anothe day, and i am sure there was more that i can't remember. Ha

Licence to Kill was the other one.

And, yeah, it was a very, very, very bad game. There's a reason Activision lost the Bond game license following its release and (devastatingly) awful reception.

I bought it, and played it when I had first bought a used PS3-it's crap, and I couldn't get through it, at all (I later sold it.)

Now if someone can fix the legal mess for Nightfire that needs a PC and console remake.
I played the heck out of Nightfire back in the day. I want that remastered for PC and console but it's in a bit of a legal mess with rights.

Same for NOLF

Oh man, it's a shame NOLF has been in limbo for so long. Could have been an enduring franchise if it hadn't been mired in publishing rights issues.

Yes the two NOLF games are in the legal shitter that's why no one ever picked them up to remake them for modern systems, same for 007 Nightfire and I'm not game to download a user made version of that game.

Yeah, and given the popularity of Bond in general, NOLF as a series could be hot shit. And spy spoofs are seem to be so rare in gaming, much in the same way Westerns are. At the very least, it would be nice to see a spiritual successor.
