I've only read the Ludlum books and that was maybe 20 years ago. Has he turned into an average action hero?
Yes, I liked the Ludlum books, but there is much more action in Eric Van Lustbader's novels on Bourne.

I voted for Bond. Been a fan since Connery played the character. And I read Fleming's books 30 years ago.
I read the books too, but I have always liked the movie better. In the books Bond seems abit more timid.
Just to update anyone who cares, a new Jason Bourne book came out this week titled The Bourne Sanction by Eric Van Lustbader, I can't wait to start it!

I've been a Bond fan from the beginning, and Casino Royale was the best, second only to On Her Majesty's Secret Service. That said, Bourne was a wild ride. Very impressive.

The Jason Bourne series has been overall stronger then the Bond Series. In my opinion only two Bond movies standout in the series thus far; Tomorrow Never Dies and Casino Royale .

TND stands out, but but mainly as being as empty-headed as an action movie can be, practically like a Moore-era flick with its jumping from one setpiece to the next and nothing to hang the plot on.

I think it is funny that your two 007 standouts are the only ones outside of DAD that I didn't even bother watching in the theater (and that's coming from somebody who really is a lifelong devotee, who has read the books often and whose second memory in life is seeing GOLDFINGER in the theater before I was 4 years old.)
