James Bond franchise--the return of SPECTRE and Blofeld?

Thing is, Die Another Day's bad, but it isn't bland (and yeah it is catchy in places) but this is just so insipid. Took him 20 minutes to write and boy does it show!

Captaindemotion, I actually really like Aha's track (though both Pretender's tracks are really good as well) but I also quite like the theme to QoS, much like the film it has a raw unfinished edge to it that I quite like, again at least it has something about it.

Maybe this will grow on me, and maybe it'll look good when we see the titles, but at the moment very uninspiring.

I actually really like the Madonna song. I never understand the hate it gets--other than that I came out at a time when it was really hip to hate Madonna. I think it's easily the best of the Brosnan songs. And I'm a huge Garbage fan.

I did see this morning that Bassey is trending on Twitter because people hate the song so much.

Madonna's song has the distinction of being the only Brosnan era theme that isn't trying to sound like a classic Barry Bond song. It's also pretty catch in that regard.

I kind of like the Sam Smith song. As far as Bond themes go it is pretty middle of the road, I liken it to the 'Licence to Kill' song. It's distinctive, and definitely memorable in it's own way, but I doubt I'll find myself listening to it much outside of the film or when I'm feeling nostalgic for James Bond songs.

In other news Sam Smith gets the first UK #1 for a bond track, which is a bit depressing, although getting to #1 is easier than it used to be, and I get the impression Adele would have done it if they'd released Skyfall a touch earlier.

Well, the lyrics are OK, but his voice is all over the fucking place, and there’s zero memorable melody or tune to it. So, a bit shit, really. Worse even than the song from Quantum Of Solace.


A real shame considering some of the other musical thought put into this one, such as the riff on the OHMSS theme in the trailers.

One, that is depressing. Two, how on earth did "Skyfall" not make UK #1? I thought it was very popular (and a great song to boot).
