"James Bond 23" officially slated for 2012!

However--I'm still wondering if she'd shot Bond on purpose....

That's obviously what we're *supposed* to wonder...

Even based on the trailer, it's very apparent that it's an accident. Eve is aiming at Patrice (the man Bond is fighting on the train) and misses, hitting Bond by mistake.

As for Eve vs. Severine, I believe Eve is the main Bond girl.

Severine is killed by Silva midway through the film

I just want to see Craig end one of his films in the arms of the main Bond girl. I have a feeling it's not going to happen in this one. That's one staple I'd wish they'd return to the series, like they have with Q.

Craig's films have more in common with the endings of some of the Fleming Books---more downbeat. Moonraker, for example, he doesn't get the girl and yet he's kinda okay with it.

It's a refreshing change actually. Seems more grounded.

I actually wouldn't mind seeing a Moonraker style ending where he tells the Bond girl he loves her and she reveals she's married (or engaged, it's been a while since I've read it).

I'm not suggesting it need happen every film, but I just want one Craig film where he ends up in the arms of the Bond girl. I'm sure a lot of others would love to see that too.

Well, no reason he couldn't get her at the end...only to find out she's also just looking for some theraputic nooky before moving onto the next assignment or whatever.

Based on a few lines of dialogue from Casino Royale, I think the Craig Bond prefers married women anyways. "Less complicated."

Yeah, there was a break from the last two, so it wouldn't be a bad return for this one. Just because it's going to remove excessive camp doesn't mean some of the staples can't come back. Quantum of Solace ended with Bond growing into Bond as we know him.

Hopefully they have an interesting script this time unlike Quantum of Solace. What a waste of a movie that was.

Well, for all we know, the trailer was edited to make it look that way. Or perhaps...she saw her chance, and a way to cover it up.

Indeed? I'm curious as to how you came across this info....

I'm a moderator over at the CommanderBond.net message boards. That kind of info just crops up. This time it's mostly through people who have seen call sheets, or storyboards.

I will concede that Bond getting shot could be on purpose and part of a cover up. But most of what I've heard and read says otherwise.

Well...at any rate--

I sincerely hope Severine has a more positive fate than that....

BTW--to the point regarding the books being more "serious" than the films regarding Bond's relationships with women--well...that may be, but...it's worth noting that even as far back as the second book, Live And Let Die, the final scene had Bond and Solitaire taking part in "passionate leave"....

After that--Diamonds Are Forever, Bond's musings on not bringing himself to settle down and marry her notwithstanding...by the end, the two are together (and she's boarding in his apartment...).

The endings of Dr. No, Goldfinger, and Thunderball are similarly "glam".

So...if this pattern in the Craig films of the Bond girls he "gets" all ending up dead continues for much longer (read: if it happens in Skyfall)...other than eliciting groans and muttered "Can't this poor fellow get a break?"--it'll not be true to the spirit of the books.

Seems Craig has signed on for two more films after Skyfall:

Rumours had been rife that once Skyfall was released, Daniel Craig’s third movie as James Bond 007, that the actor would relinquish the role, and pass the tuxedo onto someone else. After all, Skyfall is the last Bond movie that Daniel Craig is apparently formally contracted to make, although he was always said to have first option on further adventures.

Rest of the article here.

While it's not official confirmation, and it could all be a bunch of nonsense. If it is true, I think it's fantastic. I loved Brosnan and always wish he did one more, now it appears Craig will get to do five films, and that seems like a nice solid number to end on.

Also, in other news, it appears Skyfall's runtime will be two hours and twenty five minutes, making it around the same length as Casino Royale.

If it's gonna be that long I hope it has better pacing than CR...

Two more films for Craig? I'd be ok with that, I hope they don't go beyond that though. I want him to at least equal Brosnan, but I don't want him to get into Rog or Sean territory.

Those are awesome pics. I've always been unclear with regards to the status of Craig's contact. It was brought to my attention yesterday that he already re-negotiated his contract after "Casino Roayle" and signed a five year deal. Now we get news about this two year extension. It seems we keep getting contradictory reports over just exactly what the length of his contract is.
