"James Bond 23" officially slated for 2012!

^Eh, buff Craig looking wet and blue mood doesn't quite do it for me. I need to see more, like an action shot or you know, other people in the film ;)

Re The Living Daylights. Literally, my husband takes an interest in pre Brosnan Bond the day before the batch is to expire on netflix! I begged him to watch TLD, but he was leary as it was 'eighties' and Dalton 'only made two'. So instead I convinced him to watch The Spy Who Loved Me. I had to defend, top Moore, top of almost everyone's Bond list, top 5 most definitely. I swore this wasn't just me. I told him my favorite was Goldfinger, but he balked at something so sixties!

So he agrees to watch TSWLM, but friggin' Instant Watch had some kind of weird sped up movements and slowed down voices and we restarted the PS3 and then it was slow time moving with sped up voices, so we just gave up.

I have From Russia with Love on blu ray coming next week. :)

I liked Bronsan's films. They were loud, splashy, silly, and, most importantly, fun. They knew exactly what they were doing and were having a blast doing it.

And did it without the "winking and nudging" that characterized most of Moore's Bond films (still my guilty pleasure, frankly).

I think Craig's Bond would play better as a constrast against the more lush, "romantic" landscape presented by the earlier films (pre-Dalton to be specific). Craig as "brute force and brutal" against the "nuanced and sophisticated" environment. But the look and feel of the actual filmmaking is as dark and harsh as Craig's portrayal.

Well, FWIW, there seem to be implications that Skyfall will be somewhat more "nuanced and sophisticated", more "romantic", than Casino and Quantum. For one, the descriptions of the Bond girls--particularly the "glamorous and enigmatic" mademoiselle.

^I like it. It's pretty vivid. It screams, "I'm on 'em!"--as we see Bond about to break into a run, in hot pursuit of a lead....

First official picture of Bond at a swimming pool

It's a random picture of Craig sitting at a swimming pool...and yet when I look at it, it just screams Bond to me.

If there was a walther ppk by his side then yes

But to me it looks like it could be a biopic for a swimmer.

I do know that Craig needs a solid box office hit.

Cowboys and Aliens was panned and "The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo" underperformed.

I hope "Skyfall" breaks this chain

Some, but not much, talk from Ralph Fiennes:

http://www.totalfilm.com/news/ralph-fiennes-talks-skyfall-1

“I’m afraid that all I can tell you is I’m a government agent.”

Who becomes Blofeld, we tease cheekily?

“I can’t say anything. Well, I can tell you I think the script is very good indeed, and I think the character relationships are very well drawn and that it’s witty and funny – and yes, it has all the things that Bond fans want, which is action and events and locations.”

And Fiennes has no hesitance when we ask if the new film will be as hard-edged as Casino Royale: “Oh yes, this is hard-edged Bond…”

Has this official synopsis been revealed before? I think it sounds familiar but saw it recently posted as news on another site:

http://networkedblogs.com/sLtfT

"Daniel Craig is back as James Bond 007 in Skyfall, the 23rd adventure in the longest-running film franchise of all time. In Skyfall, Bond’s loyalty to M (Judi Dench) is tested as her past comes back to haunt her. As MI6 comes under attack, 007 must track down and destroy the threat, no matter how personal the cost."

^ Yes. The synopsis has been discussed ten or so pages back, I think. Very generic, probably on purpose. Almost sounds like a description of The World is not Enough (although, the film's story will likely be nothing like that).

I like how they're testing Bond's loyalty to M. Wasn't that the sub-plot of the first two films? Also her having to trust him? LOL.

Bond always seemed to trust M in CR and QoS

So, Eve isn't Moneypenny...

Apparently

Although it could still be misdirection.

Sigh, just for once I'd like it is a Bond girl didn't say "I'm a new kind of Bond girl, more 007's equal" in her interviews...face it, love, you're there to look pretty, probably shag 007 and possibly die a horrible death...

In the old films there seemed to be three women for those parts. The first the nameless pretty one he's shagging before the opening chase. The second who may or may not be a traitor but will die, likely will be shagged before her end. And the last one who was with the villain, but falls for Bond and escapes with him and will be shagged if it hadn't happened earlier. Have they changed that format?
