"James Bond 23" officially slated for 2012!

India = good. I wonder if it will be standing in for Afghanistan given that was mentioned early on as a possible location?

So, is Adele doing the title track then?

I think she's been asked to put forth a submission. Otherwise it seems way too early for them to be signing a singer, let alone recording a song for the film...before the damn thing starts filming.

Well I'd rather they did it earlier, now like the last one where they had to rush. always best of Arnold can sync his soundtrack to the title track in some way.

That's if Arnold is back. I haven't heard any news either way on him, and I'm really hoping he sits this one out.

I can't imagine he will. I like his work but I can see what you mean, might be time for a bit of a change there.

Usually I assume he is back too. But as of yet we haven't heard any concrete information either way. Seems in the past we knew by this point whether Arnold was returning or not.

There's been some speculation (speculation, I want to point out) that since Mendes is running the show he may go with his defacto composer: Thomas Newman.

^ I agree. His scores have been terrific. Especially his QoS score. Yeah I think he tweeted that he was back for 23 as well back in December. Seem to remember seeing one.

That was nearly a year ago. Things could change in that time. Until I see an official announcement, I'm going to hold out hope that they're going with someone else.

Arnold's OK. He tended to seriously overdo the Bond theme in the Brosnan films though. Thankfully he dialed that back in the Craig films...

^ I wouldn't agree with the comment re the Brosnan movies. IIRC, the theme was used very sparingly in Goldeneye, for one.

They made a point of not using it in CR until the end, because, as it was stated, Bond hadn't 'earned' it yet. They only used it at the end, when he had become the James Bond we know and love.

And yet they went backwards in "Quantum of Solace"

It wasn't till the end of QOS that he truly became the Bond we know.

He earned the name

He earned the gunbarrell

James Bond training complete

David Arnold didn't do Goldeneye. It was Eric Serra (Although the main use of the Bond theme in the movie-the Tank chase-was done by some alternate composer).

Pretty sure things haven't changed from the announcement. Even during all the MGM turmoil all the major players remained intact including Arnold. It's always possible he could be replaced or leave the project but I doubt it.
