Jackie Cooper ("Superman" 1978) dead at 88

To me Cooper was as perfect a Perry White as you could possibly have.

"That's why they're called "terrorists", Kent." :D

Jackie Cooper is one of the reason the Superman - The Movie will always outshine any other Superman movie made (or possibly yet to be made). It was casting actors like him and Glenn Ford, and Margot Kidder that gave that move so much character. And in a timeless sort of way. Even though it was made in the late '70s, this movie still shines now.

Sad news, though I hate to say I thought he'd passed away some time ago.

Although we know him best as Perry or as a Little Rascal, his name can also be found on many TV shows - MASH, Rockford Files, Quincy, Magnum, even Sledge Hammer! I see on the IMDb he also was one of the chosen few to receive the (un)coveted Alan Smithee credit! (Oh, and, appropriately enough, he also directed episodes of the live-action Superboy series in the 80s, too)

RIP

Alex

I'd like to imagine that right now he's laughing it up with Great Caesar's Ghost. ;)

I like to think he's sharing a cigar with Pierre Watkin, John Hamilton, and Lane Smith, his predesors and successor as Perry White respectively. All of whom went before him.

^^^I second this. Hard to believe he was on the verge of retirement when called to do Superman. He was at the top of his game! His comedic timing was PERFECT.
