I never noticed such a thing but it's quite possible. TOS-R records overnight tonight. I'll watch it with Jack tomorrow and see when he reacts to certain things.I'm curious if the cat pays more attention to scenes on the bridge. Some of the pings and whistles kind of sound like birds, crickets, etc. (In fact, the phaser whine is based on the sound of thousands of locusts chirping, as I recall.)

I've caught one staring almost unblinkingly as Bob paints a snow scene or something that's bright to the eyes.
