Jack Campell--The Lost Fleet (Spoilers?)

with a title called: Dreadnaught - The Lost Fleet - Beyond the Frontier. It makes me wonder if its the first book in another series of books he's witing instead of book number 7 of the lost fleet saga, and i can't wait for the audiobook either.

Yep - if you like the previous books, it's more of the same - if you were getting a bit bored... it's more of the same. ;)

this sounds like a fantastic new series I was checking my nook found all seven books and put them in my ewish area looking forward to them. love military sci fi fiction and television.

The library is taking forever to get Dreadnaught in. I think it took them at least four months to get book six in...

I assume each picture would refer to the named ship of each book:

The 3rd and 6th book picture-ship, look to small to be Battle Cruisers.

I doubt the pictures are drawn with the same scale (or to scale at all, for that matter).

I think that John himself has answered questions about the battleships on those covers on the Lost Fleet fan page.

Finally got a copy of Dreadnaught from the library and am enjoying it so far. I like how seamless each book seems to be in terms of time. Only a short amount of time passes between book to book and I like the fact that John describes a bit about what happened during Tanya and John's hiatus.

Finally finished the book and have to say that this is the first in the series that has actually disappointed me. Normally I love heavy dialogue but the bulk of the book is the fleet officers discussing and waiting around to deal with the aliens. The start of the book was fun with John and Tanya rejoining the Fleet and learning what happened during their honeymoon. There was lot more political intrigue in this book compared to the other books and it felt like it was a set up for the rest of the series. Otherwise it was still very well written and Campbell continues to prove his skill as a military writer. The battles are absolutely fascinating, even when nothing happens in them lol.

After I asked him on his facebook page, John stated that the next book in the series will probably come out in May of next year. That was the publishers date for it, he was aiming for an earlier date. I don't know with the Syndic spin-off series is supposed to come out. I'm guessing next year as well.

John just revealed on the Lost Fleet facebook page that the Lost Fleet spin off series that was to depict the Alliance has undergone a name change. It is now called Lost Stars (formerly Phoenix Stars) and will be out in October 2012. This means that in the span on a few months we will have two Lost Fleet universe books next year.

It's a good date and yes I really like the name change, it kind of makes sense given what the Alliance did to the Syndics. John also stated that the main character will be a ground forces soldier and there will be less ship battles since their fleet has been crushed by Admiral Geary and there will be intrigue and relationship stuff. Pretty much all the stuff we've come to love about the Lost Fleet series.
