Jack Black in Trek XII?

Jack Black in Star Trek XII??? Please no...

Reminds me of the awful idea to have Eddie Murphy in Star Trek IV...thank God that didn't happen either...

"I'm gonna start my own Starfleet called... The Badass Space Explorers of Danger and Excitement! And instead of warp speed, we're gonna call it awesome speed."

Aintitcool has a report form JJ Abrams that he has talked to Jack Black about being in the next movie.

I think this has been debunked by now, hopefully. Black's addition to Star Trek would be terrible. He is not versatile at all. His role in King King was poor, clearly in over his head. He is only good at playing one dimensional characters like Will Farrel.

The only thing that's been debunked from that article is that he's not playing Harry Mudd. I don't want him in the movie because I just don't think he's that great or *cough* "talented"...as far as his one dimensional characters go...IMO he's not even that funny.

Please no. The last thing the film franchise needs is to feel anymore like 'Star Trek: The College Years' than it already does.

I think Black would make a great Mudd however I'm not really a fan of that character so I'd rather not see him in the sequel.

I don't know, I think Jack could easily have a role which was similar in style to Bruce Greenwood's Pike. Not quite a main character but still important none the less.

I know it's a little off topic, but I just found this video with Jack being out-sang by Michael Buble, I found it funny and I'm sure others will :P. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y_6cIhI4kdw

Because nothing says "The College Years" like a bunch of characters in the late 20s to early 30s chasing a 40 year Jack Black?

No, no, no, no, NO! As much as I like Jack Black, any future movies should take a cue from the success of Star Trek XI and cast relatively unknown actors with great talent and no previous baggage.

As much as I like Black and would probably make an exception for him--I agree. Kind of like they should forget the old cast from here on out.

I would also make an exception for Tom Hanks. But, overall, casting unknowns is the way to go. Spend the money on the effects- not the actors.

This piece of news broke my heart....I seriously hope this is all a hoax and that I don't have to see Jack Black in the next ST movie. Please leave comedic relief to Scotty and any McCoy vs Spock confrontation. They've done well enough for 45 years, why change that now? And having him playing anything remotely serious is a no-go. Sorry for the brutally honest opinion.
