The Enterprise interiors are phyiscal.

Exterior is all CG.

The swoosh sound will be similar to the original. Very similar, actually.

LOL!!

Hey Dennis Bailey. The Gang (various ones working on the movie) said this when asked if they gauge fan reaction:

THE GANG: Not really. We never take time to find out what fans on the net are thinking. Thanks for asking.

'Fess up, bro! That was YOU posting! :D

Nah, the tone wasn't smug or arrogant enough for me. These guys are nice. ;)

Is there anything I can say to my girlfriend to convince her to go see a movie with me that is titled “Star Trek”? If so, that could be very helpful

A: First of all, I’m relieved you have a girlfriend. Secondly, this movie is not being made solely for Trekkers — that is not to say we aren’t giving the true believers the fix they want — but we’re also making a movie for people (men AND women) who have never seen Trek once in any incarnation.
What finally pushed me over the edge to direct and not just produce Star Trek was my wife, Katie’s, reaction. She loved the characters. She confirmed my deep suspicions that I should direct this movie. The story is dramatic and funny and emotional and romantic and full of adventure. I know I’m biased — but I think people are going to love this experience. For some, perhaps, DESPITE the fact that it’s called Star Trek. Who knows? Maybe your girlfriend will see the movie and become a fan of the show.

Yay for swooshing doors! I'm glad your question got answered Jon. ;) Geez, J.J. and everyone involved seem like such great guys. It was so nice of them to take the time off their busy day shooting to answer these questions for fans.

Actually, the rudeness (to me, it was, uh, er...undiplomatic to say the least, even if accurate!) is what made me wonder if they were not "official". I had to wait until Anthony confirmed it to add it to my posting. *chuckle*

But I must admit, you were right! :rommie:

Then again, after the last few Trek outings (especially Nemesis), tptb couldn't do any worse listening to the fanboys/girls than they have. :vulcan:

The Gang ? Heh heh heh heh heh heh heh heh heh heh heh !
Guess the youngsters running Star Trek now could be called a gang so the name fits. I also like "Corprate Headquaters" as the name they're filming the movie under, I mean really, who'd name a film that ? heh heh heh heh heh heh heh heh !

JJ has a dry wit, I think Star Trek is in safe hands here.

Why is this not being done on an IRC channel? They could just de-voice the "spectators" and let the big guys answer he questions much more quickly.

Because it's not 1995. ROFL
A comment hilarious solely in its ignorance.

IRC will be around until people stop speaking. Its format would have been perfectly suited to the needs of this interview.

Oh yeah they could. In a walk.

I guess we will see.

I'd like to be wrong and I'd love to have a really good Trek movie come out to revitalize Trek.

But I'm cynical. I remember all of the enthusiasm about Enterprise.

Oh, I remember that. I was all jazzed by the new time frame, the uniforms, the realistic looking plasma screens, the industrial feel of the bridge, the casting of Scott Bakula. I wasn't the only one- whereas only 7 million tuned in to see Voyager's finale, Enterprises premiere drew 12.5 million viewers. At the end of the series there were less than 4 million left around. What a waste.

Well, I'm gonna get my hopes up again because the key personnel have been replaced- the exec producers, the writers- the ones who set the vision, the tone, the ephemeral qualities called "lightning in a bottle".
