Another movie I'll watch just because of the cast. The plot looks good too. But it's still a J.J. Abrams film, and perhaps for the first time in his life, J.J. Abrams is making a film that isn't connected to any series.

Are we talking just as a director? Because he's produced a quite a few movies completely original movies.

I wonder if a sequel will be made if this film is successful, and if Jenna Ortega will be in it if Paramount, Netflix, and Warner Bros. interfere with the acquisition. Because politically, I think Jenna Ortega is definitely on Paramount's blacklist. According to Wikipedia, the film was made by Bad Robot and Warner Bros. only handled distribution. Warner is probably just a distributor. It's very likely that the right wing in Hollywood will take over everything and make it impossible for people who are Democrats or opposed to both parties and have different views on what's happening in the Middle East to get work. It's very likely that the Democrats will win the next election and Hollywood companies will take the opposite stance. The Ellison family may not change sides; they may move with the wind. However, if someone like Jenna Ortega, whose party affiliation is unclear and who has different views on what's happening in the Middle East, is on the blacklist, she probably won't be removed. And then there's the threat of artificial intelligence. And of course, this film could also be a completely original film.

Paramount reportedly has a blacklist of actors they would never work with, including those known to be anti-Trump and pro-Palestinian. For example, Mark Ruffalo is both a Democrat and a supporter of Palestine, Javier Bardem is a supporter of Palestine, and Jenna Ortega's political affiliation is unclear (she probably doesn't vote for any party) but she is also a supporter of Palestine. I wonder what would happen to a potential sequel if Paramount intervened in this Netflix and Warner Bros. acquisition and forced Warner Bros. to buy it. Although, they'd probably just make one film like Super 8 and leave it at that.

I don't understand what Paramount's hypothetical blacklist has to do with a Warner Bros movie which Paramount has no involvement in whatsoever. To say nothing of the fact we have no idea if this movie is getting a sequel or if it's even meant to launch a sequel, or if there is one, whether Ortega would even be due to return anyway (her character could easily just be intended to just be in the first one)

You're posting a lot of hypotheticals of a rather flawed and irrelevant premise. Aside from stirring up a political discussion, I'm not sure what the point is you're trying to make.

I don't want to start a political debate. It's just something that 'caused me to think about.' Anyway, it's best if we drop the subject.
