Outside of a loud minority of fandom, no one wants the Prime Universe back.

Then we should have supported DS9, VOY, ENT, "Insurrection" and "Nemesis" better. The steady downward ratings slide was fans of the prime universe voting their disinterest with a lack of bums on seats.

And that's the problem. With the exception of DS9, every other one of those things were crap. I wouldn't mind seeing the prime timeline back in some form or another either, but if it's just gonna be more crap for the sake of bringing it back to please a few die-hard fans, I'm sure as hell not going to support it. That's what happened with the Babylon 5 The Lost Tales direct-to-dvd schlock, and even JMS admitted it was a mistake.

I don't want the Prime universe back. I'm far more excited about the possibilities in the new universe. I'm sure more people want Captain Kirk than Captain Worf.

Somehow I find it ironic that these two writers are known for writing "boilerplate." Indeed, Khan might as well be Trek boilerplate.

Can't comment on these two new writers, but with Orci around I'm still cautious. At least Lindelof is gone.

Give us more ENT! It's canon to both the Prime and the JJreboot.

That is the only series I wish we got more of. Even if it was one more season.

Didn't Nick Meyer write the entire second act?
I'd rather have Lindelof than Orci. Lindelof did some good stuff on LOST. I've never seen anything Orci has ever written that I thought was any good.
There's no such thing. Rick Berman's version of Star Trek is no more or less valid than JJ Abrams' version of Star Trek.

I've been watching Trek since before TNG, and though I'm not a fan of Abrams movies, the very last thing I want is to go back to Berman Trek. I can see it now, yet another spinoff series featuring Captain Jebediah Nobodygivesash*t of the U.S.S. Continuity Porn. We can call it, Star Trek: Beating a Dead Horse. Screw that. Give me Kirk, Spock, the Enterprise, and a good reboot which keeps these characters alive and relevant. Rick Berman's version of Star Trek was merely one version; it had its day, but that day is done. Thank God.

I usually stay out of this forum, and this thread is a reason why. Anyone who states they have a preference for the prime universe is attacked or mocked.

Because 99% of the time (in my oh-so-scientific estimation), prime Trek actually means Rick Berman's Trek, with the implication that Berman's Trek is somehow more "real" than any other version. Rick Berman's Trek is no more or less valid than any other version of Star Trek, including Abrams' version.

This isn't a discussion about nuclear disarmament that is going to have real world ramifications. Its a bunch do people having fun discussing Star Trek. Various factions of fandom have been sniping at each other for nearly fifty-years, it is part of the fun.

Yeah, but you'd lose the Star Wars blasters "PEW PEW PEW" in favor of "PEEEEEEEEEEEEEWWWW".

Lol, not just that. Just about anyone who doesn't like the new films is attacked or mocked.
