I've got a job in Japan

Considering it's only been a little more than a month since I returned from my trip and set about trying to find a way to return for a longer stay, it didn't take long at all for me to find something. It just felt that way.

But the wait is over, I now know for sure that I've been offered a position as an assistant language teacher of the English language in a junior high school in Kanto, Japan. And I couldn't be more excited.

Of course, there's still a lot of work to do before I fly over there (which will happen in March). I'll need more money at first than I have saved up, so I'll be looking for a temporary job around home next. And there's plenty of legal paperwork to fill out and mail places.

But I'm really just glad I've got something, and in the area I want. Most companies that hire people from outside the country service a large area and send teachers to schools all over the map, and I just wasn't going to accept that. I had to be near Tokyo, which is a popular destination and hard to get because of that. As it stands, I'm guaranteed to be close enough to travel there on public transportation, and that's all I need.

Everything about this is really perfect. I'll be where I want, doing a job that sounds exciting and appealing to me as a language student myself, coupled with the opportunity to practice and improve upon my Japanese skills and spend time with the girl I love.

Oh yeah, that last one's a plus. As a Japanese major, I'd be headed to Japan whether she was there or not, but it certainly is nice knowing she's waiting for me there. :D

Basically, this is awesome and I'm excited for 2010. This year has been the best of my life and hopefully the next will be even better.

Yay!!! I'm so excited for you because I know how important this is to you. It's awesome that the location worked out. Best of luck, and congrats! :)

Be sure to visit either Hiroshima or Nagasaki. I've been to the latter, and it is an absolutely beautiful city.

Congrats. Glad about the location too (I know a couple of people who were considering teaching in Japan for a year, but didn't like being sent to the boonies out of their control). Hope everything works out great :)

Congradulations! Good Luck & Have alot of fun when you aren't working!

:)

*wipes tear from eye* Our little Goji is all grown up. :(

If I had a dime for every time you've said that... :shifty:

Thanks everyone! I'm still really excited. I can't wait to call my girl and tell her about it. I would now, except it's 5 AM her time, and she would probably not appreciate that so much.

Still awesome though. :D
