I'm watching the show still and enjoy it to some extent, but I think that it has lost a lot of the 'magic' it had in the Russell Davies years.... it's kind of lost it's heart and soul, that's the only way that I can explain it. it's not just Rory that's a bit 'limp' and 'wet', the series as a whole is getting a bit that way.

On the subject of Rory, I'm not so bothered by him. I thought he did quite well in Amy's Choice. More likeable than Amy's shaping up.

I don't know if I'd call it magic as such. The show doesn't feel quite as slick, but that isn't neccesarily a bad thing, by the end RTD's era was slick as anything but had gotten a trifle predictable to say the least. It had also got a bit smug with its own success. In a way Tennant was the perfect Doctor for the perfect era (said somewhat ironically!)

I think the new production team are finding their feet still, I imagine a lot of issues this year will be ironed out for next.

And the big plus Moffat has is, of course, Matt Smith. Who really is a perfect Doctor (no irony)

Hey, if I could stick it out through season 2 with a Doctor I really didn't care for, crappy stories, and a companion that seemed a big step down from her previous season, anyone can stick with it.

Amy I still find annoying - she's whiny and ungrateful. Rory started out wimpy but he's getting better - I thought he was pretty darn good in "The Hungry Earth".

As for the Doctor - what can I say, he's great! I like Matt Smith even better than Eccleston. There, I said it.

I like Rory and enjoyed The Hungry Earth, but I feel similarly. It could also just be a weaker season, like the third. There have been a number of good episodes and plenty of interesting ideas but somehow it doesn't quite add up to something great.
At first I thought I suffered from post-Ten blues because he's my favourite Doctor, but I don't think that's it. Other people I've spoken with who aren't Tennant fan girls have expressed similar sentiments.
Different strokes for different folks, I guess, but I do hope that the quality of the stories will be more consistent in the future. It's not very impressive so far, I think, suprisingly since I loved all of Moffat's earlier stories.

This season does feel a bit week, but we not only have new actors, almost the entire production team is new and things have not quite gelled yet. Give Moffet and the crew time, they will get there.

This is pretty much my take. Right now Moffet and crew are finding out what does, and doesn't work. Hopefully by the time series six rolls around they will have found their legs.

I find these complaints of the current series being comparatively weak quite incredible. I think Smith's a far better Doctor than the previous two, and all the Moffat episodes have been good to great. Victory was awful, and the other two were alrightish (to be honest, they didn't quite have my full attention...). But considering how rubbish a lot of the RTD era was, this is quite a step up nevertheless. I suppose the downside is things are looking cheaper (yes they are, don't deny it) and the new Daleks and new Silurians are complete abominations.

I was merely agreeing with someone else's point. The opportunity doesn't present itself here very often, so it's nice to be able to.

I think by-and-large, the plus points far outweigh the negative ones. I love how we're back in rural England as opposed to urban estates and that The Doctor is an out-and-out nerd again. The relative low-key-ness of the episodes is also a major plus factor.

The Daleks are still rubbish though.

I meant their appearance. Though having a silly whipping tongue and talking like bad actresses doesn't help.

I think this might be the first time the word "Wet" has been used to describe someone other than having water all over him/her? Is that a common thing "Wet and Pathetic" because I've never heard it as that phrase before.

I've heard people described as a "wet rag" or "all wet", seems in the same vein.
