Probably some DRM bull. I store my Itunes on a dedicated USB "harddrive" and just burn emergency backups from there. Itunes back up utility never had worked right for me-- regardless the edition.

Sure it does. Right-click the name of the playlist you want to burn in the Source List. Boom, choice of audio, mp3, and data CD, same as always. They just took off the obvious button, as part of Apple's relentless death-march to the future. They see physical media being on the way out, and urge it to not let the door hit it in the ass.

I don't really blame them either, but I still buy CDs (like having a hard copy I suppose) and just put them on my hard drive - I'm still a sucker for the artwork and liner notes and such. I just like having a backup option, it's a lot quicker than putting each CD back in there manually.

I prefer using an actual hard drive for backup purposes. OS X even has backup software built-in (Time Machine).
