It's that day...

Thanks for the reminder! Happy Star Trek Day, everybody!

I realized what day it was through Memory Alpha this morning. Under the "Did you know..." section, it mentioned Star Trek debuting on September 8th, 1966, and I was like... that's today!

As Sheppard Smith would say:

AND ON THIS DAY, IN 1966...

The sci-fi classic Star Trek aired on NBC for the first time.

The Trek franchise would go on to enjoy triumphs and pitfall, hits and misses, gaining one of the most loyal fan following in Media, and becoming one of the longest-lived, and best-loved, cult classics in history.

Today, JJ-Abrams is steering the ship of the franchise, and a new film is slated to come out in 2012!

But Gene Roddenberry changed television forever...forty-four years ago...today.

Break out the Chateau Picard, Vintage 1966. Here's to 44 more years!

:beer:Congrats to all of us! So many people never would have guessed that Trek would last this long. It's had its ups and downs, but it's not stopping!

To quote Jeri Ryan on twitter:

Happy 44th, Star Trek! Thanks for the gig. And it needs to be said: Thanks to YOU guys for sticking around and supporting ST for all these years and all these incarnations! You rock!!

Wow, I didn't know. A wonderful reason to celebrate! 'Happy Trek Day' has a great ring to it.

44 years... That's amazing, especially since a lot of us around here weren't even born when Star Trek began. And yet, here we are gushing over a TV series that was created 44 years ago. It's a thing of beauty.

Wow happy 44 years STAR TREK a true scifi legend !!!! And my girlfriends birthday so I've got a great way remembering lol .
