Another snippet of news from the new DWM and a decision that seems to have been taken mainly to annoy the more obsessive end of Fandom.

The 2010 series of Doctor Who will be refered to as Series One from a production standpoint to reflect the complete change in production team.

I can just imagine Moffat laughing his head off when that decision was made.

I wonder how they'll label the eventual DVD box set. It seems like The Complete Series Five would cause the least marketplace confusion, although I guess they could go with something like The Complete Matt Smith Series One.

They say "production standpoint" so I'm assuming that's internal paperwork only.

Still it might be worth them doing a 10th Doctor boxset, the S1 boxset counts as the 9th Doctor boxset.

It's only for internal production documentation, so the DVD will say either "Complete series 5" or "Complete 2010 Series"

That's really not why they're calling it that. It is, however, a happy consequence.

Well that's interesting. It's moves like this that make me think we'll see big changes, like to the TARDIS interiors and exterior, new theme, new credit sequence, etc.

I've been thinking we'll probably see a new credit sequence. I like the current one, but we're due for a little shakeup. A new arrangement of the theme couldn't hurt (I thought the Series 4 version was a little overdone).
