It's Going To Be A Long Six Weeks

I thought more people in here would read SFX. It's better than Starlog and funnier too.
Based on the title, I assumed the focus is on special effects, which isn't something that interests me much. I never read Fangoria, either, because of the focus on gore. I did read stuff like Starlog and Cinefantastique because they covered a variety of subjects.

I have a sub, I was buying it from the shops for years and then three years ago took advantage of a half price deal.

I actually see some of the writers in Bath on occasion and walk past the Future offices where it's created when walking to College.

So if you assumed what it was, did you actually take the time to find out if you're wrong or not? And yes, you are wrong. It's a four weekly magazine that focuses on all things Sci Fi.

SFX is a very good general SF magazine, with great interviews, reviews of all manner of media, and doing it with a sense of humour that seems lacking in Starlog (as I remember it). Their tag is "The world's #1 Sci-Fi Mag" and I believe it. I've been buying it since no. 1, for over 20 years now, it seems.

For the record, the good Doctor is standing in front of the title, and I am totally thinking other things.

I like KMT, New Scientist, and American Scientist magazines. I also read magazines pertaiining to my numerous hobbies. I read everything, print or otherwise--what can I say, I'm old.

They do that ALL THE TIME. I had a letter published about it, how it's bad enough for a bloke my age reading SFX on the train without looking like I'm reading a mag called SEX.

No, my eyes just slid right over it; I don't have time to look at everything.

Cool. I'll take a look at it the next time I see it.

I thought the same thing, and the looks on their faces are perfect. :rommie:

Ah, I forgot about New Scientist. I used to subscribe to that, too.

I saw the thread title and thought, "6 more weeks of winter?! That damn groundhog!" And then I realized that it's only December.

On topic, no, I do not subscribe to any magazines. I occasionally pick up a copy of Men's Health, but I almost never read it.

As for the magazines themselves, can you read large print?
I don't have to be right on top of the page with larger type. Theoretically, the larger the type the better. In practice though, anything more than 2 inches from my nose is out of focus.

"It's Going To Be A Long Six Weeks" because you came outside and saw your shadow.
