It's been a long time getting from there to here...(NO spoilers)

I just wanted to post this a sort of a vanity type post but also to see if the level of excitement with others is as high as mine.

I am 43 years old and have been a TREK fan since I was a child watching reruns on Channel 11 in NY after school. I remember the excitement of waiting for TMP to open, and seeing every TREK film in the theaters. Therefore it was with great sadness when several years ago TREK was pronounced 'dead'.

Fast forward a couple of years and the rumor mill started spinning - new project in the works, would B&B be involved, is some Band of Brothers guy doing the writing? JJ-who? who is going to direct?

Then JJ got attached to the project and slowly things began to take shape - but the discussions hear on the BBS waiting for info:

Who should play Spock? McCoy? Kirk? What?? Matt Damon for Kirk and Gary Sinise for Bones? Ben Affleck too? Chris Pine was named Kirk and the complaints - too tall, too short, wrong colored eyes, etc, etc, etc... Then Spock was named and every one jumped on board with Quinto vs. Brody. What about the Shat? Will he or won't he be in it?

Filming commenced and we got sneak peaks of the uniforms with extras wearing ponchos and driving in tarp covered golf carts back and forth to the set. But we were waiting for more - and we got pics of some outdoor set pieces and we speculated what they were. We sat waiting for more info - some pics, a leak of some sort which never came.

Suddenly one day the faucet opened a little and info started to flow - the uniforms, the new bridge but every one was waiting to see the real star of the show. She showed up - the new Enterprise. There was uproar and excitement. Then came the first trailer and the second and more pics and trailers and what?? A comic book prequel - yes must buy it.

Now my fellow TREK fans it is here - we are two weeks out from the new film opening. It has been a long road waiting for the crumbs and scraps of information. We are on the verge of a TREK rebirth - all signs are looking positive - early reviews, viewers reactions and for the most part, the excitement on the board is ratcheting up.

Lets go out and enjoy this movie, come back here and pick it to pieces and analyze it to death from the soundtrack to the dialogue to the sfx. But remember, we finally have TREK on the big screen again and lets enjoy the adventure of sitting in a theater, eating popcorn, having the lights go down and feel that absolute utter thrill of anticipation when the previews end, the Paramount logo comes up and the movie starts.
