It there any way to return Edith Keeler to Star Trek?

No. According to (ST universe) history she was hit and killed by a random car. Which was how human history was meant to be. There is no credible way to bring Ms. Keeler back from the dead because her death was such a vital (& tragic) aspect of her character. Anything to change that would feel like an overly convenient, sentimental cheat. Sometimes some characters really do need to RIP.

What would be the point other than to gut the meaning of the episode?

I think you're missing the whole dramatic point of the episode.

To what end? The episode would be rendered meaningless.

As you may have guessed I have a problem with the question and wonder why one would propose it.

Do you want to live in a universe where everyone's life is full of dramatic events which all make good stories, or would you rather live in a universe where everyone lives happily ever after, and the only interesting stories are totally fictional instead of true history?

Most people prefer the second alternatives for themselves. And some people like fictional character so much they want the fictional characters to live happily ever after, even if that ruins the drama of their stories for the readers or viewers.

Nothing is meant to be. There is no destiny. Everything which happens happens according to random chance working within the limits of the laws of nature.

Half the premise of this board seems to be absurd topics, theories and speculations. In that context, the OP's question is perfectly normal.

Edith Keeler was a bland character, in a vastly over rated episode, played by a fucking obnoxious Diva with little or no acting talent.
She's dead, because she had to die in the grand scheme of things
Let it go

Paramount: Are you $ure? Becau$e we $ure can think of a few reason$.

So could Nimoy! :bolian: He made millions playing Spock from Star Trek III onward.

It's just unfortunate that the films carried on this TV-quality gimmick from original series, that the regulars "die" sometimes, but never for real.

Kirk died in Generations and never came back despite Shatner's whining and writing ways to bring him back!!!

I can understand why he didn't want an exit like Generations, especially after being attached to that role for so long. Stewart is going to get his second chance for a better ending, though arguably he already got his best ending BEFORE he started the films. I just take Shatner's novels as a seperate 'verse, a la the MU, the KU, etc.

I still think Tarantino's new film will be Kill Edith

Well that's a good point, but as XCV330 implied, Kirk's death scene was unworthy of his place in the franchise. Kirk died for no good reason. If Picard had half a brain, he would have used Nexus Magic (TM) to go back to before Malcolm McDowell became a threat, and reported the whole Nexus-time travel-magic thing to Starfleet, with chapter and verse on McDowell's planned moves. Instead of that, he thoughtlessly threw Kirk's (after-) life away.

By contrast, Spock's end in TWOK was epic, iconic, and above all meaningful and necessary.

No matter how true that may be, it would still cheapen the episode's climax to bring Edith Keeler back from the dead.

In my head canon he died in TUC, giving his life to make peace with the Klingons. :p

As for Edith, I think it was Stephen King who said, staying dead is better.

But if you miss her or just hate how Kirk was killed off, definitely read the Crucible trilogy by David George. They fix things smashingly.
