News It’s Official – CBS And Viacom To Merge

FUCKIN' HELL YEAH!

I know it sounds were to be excited about some corporate merger or whatever. But holy hell is it great that Star Trek will be ONE entity again! No more artificial seperation between tv- and movie side anymore!

So the 25% thing is not a nonissue, assuming it ever was one? Cool!

So we could get Wrath of Khan characters, Kelvinverse (Prime version) characters, and Sybok on Discovery now? Too bad they aren't in the 23rd century anymore.

They could always use those characters. CBS owns them.

Also it hasn’t been long enough yet since DSC season 2 aired, you need spoiler tags.

I wouldnt be surprised if we see a merger of CBSAA and Showtimes streaming services. These guys probably think a combined library of Paramount/Showtime/CBS content could rival Disney+...idk if thats a good idea, but Im confident they are thinking it.

There's been talk of a proposed merger between Viacom and CBS. Here's a link to what I'm talking about: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Proposed_2019_merger_of_CBS_and_Viacom

When the deal closes next month, there may be talk of a new streaming service that will focus on film and television content from Paramount and CBS, including the five Star Trek series currently showing on H&I six nights a week as part of All Star Trek.
Proposed? It’s already scheduled to happen.

If it's all under one roof, I don't think there will be another Star Trek movie for several years. Alex Kurtzman wants to build up the TV end as much as he can and I think Paramount is disappointed they couldn't make the Star Trek movies as big as Star Wars or Marvel. I think they'll give the films another go eventually, but it'll be by someone else. Before someone mentions Quentin Tarantino, I think he'll ultimately go with something else as his 10th film.

He will do an ultimate Crossover Team up movie of all the characters from all 9 previous movies. I mean, how could he not?

Well, I was way off on that prediction. The only thing I got right was that Kurtzman wouldn't be involved, which is akin to a broken clock.

You might still be right. "In development" in Hollywood sometimes just means "We'll see what we can come up with and go from there".
