Is Trekking Really an Adventure?

I have not experienced trekking myself, but I am hearing exciting things about it, so I plan of doing it in the near future, Does anyone hear would like to share experience how well and which places are the best spot for trekking?

There are some opinions like popular trekking spots are the
mountainous regions such as the Himilayas in Asia and the Andes in South America. I also heard that that Philippines consider it as one of the major adventure sports.

I would be delighted if anyone could make suggestions on their trekking adventure. I guess I should need to schedule it the next holidays.
