I'm just not feeling the "Galaxy Quest" love that several people here seem to be feeling. I'll have to watch it again.

I have it on DVD. I tried to re-watch it a few months ago, and got bored about halfway through and turned it off.

If it bored you last time, why bother?

I enjoyed it quite a bit the first time I watched it.

And then, years later, I noticed that some people loved it around here quite a bit more than I did. People whose opinions I tend to agree with. So I've been meaning to give it another chance.

An ex-in-law (or is that an out-law?) gave me a copy of it on DVD. On my last partial viewing, I enjoyed it less than I did the first time around. But I'll have to finish the thing before I can finally decide.

This is the eleventh Star Trek movie.

And maybe the third good one?

Not counting "Galaxy Quest."

It all depends on what mood you're in. If you're in a good, geeky mood and want to wallow in your nerdness about things TREK it's a great movie to sit through. If you're not feeling that way, it doesn't work. It's just one of those films.

This might be Trek's first "from scratch" movie but it's not the first reboot featuring time travel and an old TOS character bridging the gap. Gene did that with TNG.

TNG wasn't a "reboot." A continuation with updated sets and tech, but not a reboot. The original TOS timeline and history were respected even if they were sort of left alone and not explored or revisited often.
