Is there an episode of TOS that you haven't seen?

Agenda

Fleet Captain
Fleet Captain
Or an episode that took you forever to check out?

I just finally got around to watching Day of the Dove. Now my journey is complete.

I guess I can rest peacefully now.

BTW, it's not too bad for a season 3 ep.

I still have yet to see The Cage, though most of it is shown in the Menagerie episodes. But as for the rest, I've seen them many times :}

Better to ask: Is there a frame of TOS I've not seen...?

I was in college when I got into Trek. Those of us who watched the channel tried to guess which episode it was from the teaser. I was pretty good at that, but one day I couldn't figure it out. When someone said "This Side of Paradise," I had to laugh because that was the last one of the Trek episodes.

There are a couple of episodes of TNG that I've deliberately not see. One had Joe Piscoplo as a comedian, and another was the episode with David Ogden-Stiers. It was just too close to the end of MASH for me to see him in a science-fiction area. I kept thinking that Radar O'Reilly would come in and have all the forms filled out. But maybe that's just me!

Seen it all countless times. About to watch it again with my GF who's never seen it (but has seen TNG/DS9 with me)

I've seen them all (TOS that is) but I remember that The Empath was my 'last' unseen one back in Agugst ot 1987...just in time for TNG.
Still haven't watched that stinker since. Heck, maybe it's not a stinker, but it felt like one to me back in '87, when I was 14.

Started watching TOS in the early 80's.

One eluded me all the way till 2004 when the DVD boxsets were released - "Requiem for Methuselah".

I was actually kinda sad when I finally saw them all :sigh:

I'd seen all of them several times except The Return Of The Archons before the VHS tapes were released. Having read the James Blish adaptation, I wasn't anticipating that it would be one of my favourites, and it wasn't after I'd seen it.

I'd seen them all several times probably by 1970; they started syndicating them in the fall of 1969, right after the show was canceled. They played every evening around dinner time, and we had a TV in the kitchen. I started watching in the fall of 1966; I don't remember missing any in first run or summer reruns -- but if I did, it wasn't long before I picked them up in syndication.

Could you imagine the comedic possibilities of having Radar as Picard's yeoman?

Picard: "Radar!!".

O'Reilly: "Yes sir. Tea, Earl Grey, Hot".

Picard: "Radar, tea. Earl Grey, hot".

O'Reilly: "Yes sir. Tea, Earl Grey, hot". (hands Picard the tea).

Yes, there are a bunch I haven't seen. I'm really late to "Star Trek" as I only started watching it last year (though I've been watching TNG since childhood). I never bought the DVDs and when I started watching re-runs on TV, I couldn't commit to watching it every day due to laziness or other commitments, so I missed several episodes in every season.

By the time I got to season 3, I was getting annoyed with the show and purposely skipped a few episodes out of frustration. I was thinking of maybe starting a poll to ask which episodes people would most strongly recommend of ones I haven't seen yet, but I guess here is as good a place as any to ask. I liked a few season 3 episodes, but the episodes of it that I didn't like soured me on the season so much that I don't have much desire to see the episodes I missed.

I am a little curious about "The Way to Eden" based on what I heard about Spock in that episode, but generally I'd rather not bother with my gaps in season 3, so I'll just list the season 1 and 2 episodes I've missed.

Season 1
"Charlie X"
"What Are Little Girls Made Of?"
"The Galileo Seven"
"Court Martial"
"Arena" (I know about the Gorn because I've seen his fight with Kirk on Youtube, I've seen "In A Mirror, Darkly", and it is popular as an action figure, but I have never seen the rest of the episode)
"The Alternative Factor"
"A Taste of Armageddon"
"Operation -- Annihilate!"

Season 2
"Catspaw"
"Who Mourns for Adonais?"
"The Doomsday Machine"
"The Changeling"
"The Apple"
"The Deadly Years"
"The Immunity Syndrome"
"Patterns of Force"

To each person, I ask which episode(s) would you most recommend and why? If I'm convinced enough that the episode is worth watching, I'll try to go out of my way to make sure I don't miss the episode the next time it's on the TV channel where I watch "Star Trek". :)

If you aren't going to watch them all, then I'd certainly recomend The Doomsday Machine. It features a great performance from William Windom in basically an SF version of Moby Dick. Written by a real SF writter, Norman Spinrad.

Likewise. Denver was one of those lucky markets where the episodes ran uncut, so when they started running 'em on Channel 4, Monday through Friday at 4 pm, around 1974 or so, I saw 'em all, and I saw all of 'em.

The only episodes I haven't seen are a couple of Voyagers, maybe one or two DS9's (I think I've made up that deficit thanks to the public library), and the third season of Enterprise.

Star Trek sure loves to take their inspiration from Moby Dick, don't they? Between that, "The Wrath of Khan", and "Star Trek: First Contact"...I don't think I could ever read that book because it would never be as entertaining as the Star Trek episodes and movies inspired by it, and Star Trek made sure I know too much about the plot and too many of the great lines already for it to hold any intrigue for me.

Of that list, IMO "The Apple" is the only ep you shouldn't be tasering yourself for having not seen yet.:guffaw:

The final episode that was "unseen" by me was "Balance of Terror". I missed it when it was originally aired (I would have been 6 years old, but I did watch Star Trek with my dad every week). I finally saw it in 1975, when I was in high school, and it naturally became my favorite episode. We could only get Star Trek on cable TV out of Minneapolis, and they only showed it at noon on Saturday and Sunday. I used to time my lunch break from my part-time job so I could get home and catch most of the episode; I usually missed either the teaser or the "tag". Well, this particular day I ran in the door, turned on the tube and saw that "Balance of Terror" was on. I waited until the first commercial, then called work and told them I had a flat tire and might be a little late returning from lunch. That way I could see the whole episode.

I didn't see it "uncut" until I bought the episode on VHS.

The Doomsday Machine is the best on that list - one of my favorite Trek episodes. I also like The Changeling (story is similar to TMP, but it's a lot more fun), The Galileo Seven, The Immunity Syndrome, Charlie X, Who Mourns For Adonais and What Are Little Girls Made Of.

The Apple is interesting because Kirk's decision in it is quite controversial; A Taste of Armageddon is not bad; Operation: Annihilate has some good Spock moments that make it IMO better than I expected even though people don't seem to rate it; Patterns of Force is very cheesy, but some parts can make you laugh because of the cheese; Arena could be OK if the fight and Gorn didn't look so incredibly fake and cheesy, but you don't lose much by not seeing it if you know what happens. The Deadly Years and Court Martial are kinda meh, not bad but not very memorable. The Alternative Factor is compltely forgettable and Catspaw is awful. Not as awful as Mudd's Women, but close.

As for the Q from the title: I haven't seen some of the season 3 episodes (Spock's Brain, And the Children Shall Lead, The Way to Eden, Turnabout Intruder) because of all the bad things I've heard about them. But I intend to pick up my courage and watch them one of these days.
