Is there a turbolift?

Maybe this has been brought up, but I am still confused about direct access to the new bridge AND Turbos. When Kirk/others rush in on the bridge to warn Pike about the trap, they seem to enter from the same door where later on Spock/Uhura walk through to use the turbo and make out.....How many ways are on to that bridge, and were any of them direct access and not a turbo? or was i just seeing things..

Re: Is there a TURBO?

Turbo? My car has a turbo

Yeah I think when the turbolift is not on bridge level, it opens up as a door and there is some sort of 'shelf' over the empty shaft.
At least that is what it seemed like in the few glimpses we saw.

It makes 'real world' sense I suppose. We can land a man on the moon but we can't make the escalator and the hand rail go at the same speed, so one would imagine that lifts still break down in 300 years' time.

From a military point of view you don't have a solitary access to your command centre.

Oh man, I almost fall on my face every time I get on one. And I thought it was just an optical illusion, or else I was going craaaaaazy. :techman:

The starboard side entrance is from the corridor. The port side is the turbolift.
Yeah; Spock exits the turbolift stage right and walks to the science station when Pike is still aboard as captain. It's the makeout side. Later, Uhura runs through the corridors and appears on the other side (no lift). Chekov runs out that way, too. When Spock relieves himself of duty, he and Sarek both leave through the corridor side (stage left).

Okay..yeah that thats right. But then when kirk/co enter the ship from the 'direct' access part of the ship, (to warn pike) and later Chekov runs out that same door, thats a pretty big area of the ship behind that access part of the door. So, does the physical appearence of the ship match up with what they are saying is behind that door..maybe its a wormhole they run through and end up in other parts of the ship..just a thought..

Cupcake brings Kirk and Scotty in through the turbolift, stage right. Chekov hands over the bridge to the helm officer and runs out, stage left. He doesn't run behind the helm officer. Not the same way.

I get that...but there is a lot of area there behind that magic door...I mean, think of all the yardage kirk and company run through before even getting to the bridge to warn Pike....

What part of the ship is located behind the magic door?

Rob

I don't remember any yardage, except for the chase in hydraulics engineering. They looked to come straight off the turbolift to me.

I got the same impression...so I would love to see a model of what the ship ACTUALLY looked like. Because, well, I am confused. Oh well...just a minor issue.

Yes, this seems to make sense. I think there's one turbolift as a tip of the hat to the classic TOS setup while there is also a door to a connecting hallway to the rest of the bridge module/A-deck.

You have everything right but the stage directions. Stage Left and Stage Right are OPPOSITE Audience Left and Audience Right. (That's why we differentiate! ;) )

[Note: who knew my High School Drama class from 20 years ago would ever come into this discussion...]

Actually, they do quite a bit of white corridor running. First to find a terminal to find Uhura, then down to the Comm bay to talk to her, then BACK up to the Bridge.

I think the Bridge layout is similar to the Enterprise-D Bridge on TNG.

The rear-port door is a turbolift, while the rear-starboard door leads to a hallway and the rest of A-Deck (if that is indeed where the Bridge is located). I would like to see a set of deck plans to the new Enterprise (or at least of A-Deck). I have the set of Enterprise-D blueprints, and they are highly entertaining and enlightening.

I seem to recall that the Bridge in The Animated Series had two doors -- I don't recall if they were both elevators, or if one led to a corridor. ...

Yeah, I read that wrong; I was thinking of when Cupcake brings Kirk and Scotty up only. Otherwise there was plenty of white hallway.

And I should have said on the right or left of the screen. Sorry about that!

Both were turbolifts--one where the original was, the other directly counter-clockwise of the viewscreen.
