Is there a Mirror Universe and What's It Like (possible spoilers)

Okay, so we have the new movie. Is there a Mirror Universe and if so, what's it like? Does Spock still have a goatee?

Since the characters are all less "pure,: I think the Mirror Universe might look more like the one from ST XI.

There is. And here's the kicker - it's the same one as before.

Any mirror universe that includes the new continuity would have to have diverged since Nero's arrival in 2233. That doesn't leave much time to form an Empire. Unless the universe that spawned the spiral creating the new mirror universe was significantly different to begin with, and just happens to have lined up in mirror-parallel with the nuTrek Continuity once it spiraled around.....

Edit: Okay, new thought. What if that red matter stuff resonated across several parallel universes? So there's a "neighboring" universe with a Terran Empire that just happens to have their Vulcan implode one day. And when they go looking for why, they end up interacting with the nuTrek crew somehow.

Oddly enough, in the novels...
Mirror-Romulus was recently devastated by a thaleron bomb, leaving only a few tens of thousands of survivors. Perhaps mirror-Nero will end up traveling back in time and break mirror-history just like prime-Nero did, so there's a corresponding nuMirror-Universe.

i think since the divergence of the mirror universe and the prime universe took place back at First Contact, that the Mirror Universe probably exists as we know it from TOS and DS9, Nero probably doesn't exist as we see him in the film and might be quite different and just because Romulus went bye bye in the prime universe, who is to say it does in the Mirror Universe

I made these:

Which mirror universe? The one in ToS and the one seen in Enterprise were simular but I am not sure they were the same place. In ToS Spock used that fact that some of his associates are Vulcans as a threat; in ENT Vulcans are clearly subservient to Terrans. Also there is the small matter of the Defiant. Would not have the ToS mirror universe been significantly advanced technologically if they had a Constitution Class Starship 100 years earlier?

In the Mirror Universe, Spock came back to avenge the destruction of Vulcan, and Nero came back to try and make sure that Kirk still became captain of the ISS Enterprise.
