Is The Screenshot Of A Partial Uniform Mean A New Uniform For NuTrek?

TRON JA307020

Vice Admiral
Admiral
Or is it just a uniform of a special unit. I am wondering if we have seen the last of the primary colors with black pants. Any thoughts on this? Do you like the idea of new uniforms or want to keep the traditional styled ones modeled after TOS?

I have been out of it for a while so I just found out about the new uniforms today. Not sure if I like that they will have new ones. One of the things I do like about NuTrek is the take on the classic uniforms. It cool that they have black t-shirts underneath the top tunic and it gives the uniform the classic look without feeling like they are choking the neck.

There's some discussion of the shoulder patch and jacket over in this thread.

The jacket may be similar to one worn by several people in Into Darkness, including Scotty as seen in this photo.

Maybe it is a flight suit or special jacket. The fabric looks to thick to be uniform they would wear daily on the Bridge. The current uniforms are actually perfectly designed to do work on the bridge. They are loose fitting, look comfortable to actually work on the bridge. It would be weird to see a uniform change right when they start the 5 year mission.

I think you may be jumping to conclusions. If the "screenshot" you're referring to is the picture tweeted by Lin, then it may not be a piece of clothing at all. That said, it is still blue as in "sciences blue," so I'm not sure why you think they are abandoning the "gold-blue-red" designations with black pants just based on this picture of a patch on some blue material.

Well they seem to be making a big deal about these particular uniforms. They have never done that before. I am looking forward to Pegs take on Trek but I hope he keeps the uniforms and doesn't bow to studio pressure to change the good things.

A big deal? Did I miss something? I've seen one picture and I think it the point of the picture was to show the iconic Starfleet Delta. A visual clue that the filming has started.

All the articles mentioned it was a new uniform. Maybe its not.

It's called speculation.

Of course its speculation. I myself am speculating.

It's all we have at this point.

Perhaps it's an old uniform... Kirk and co. might stumble across a long lost Enterprise-era ship...

No UFP at that point. :techman:

I didn't actually mean specifically during the show's run. Just of that periods - I don't think it was to long after that it formed.

But wasn't it suppose to be the Coalition of Planets first?

Re: Is The Screenshot Of A Partial Uniform Mean A New Uniform For NuTr

I'm with the faction that thinks the picture of the patch is a shot of a padded seatcover, and not a uniform at all.

Re: Is The Screenshot Of A Partial Uniform Mean A New Uniform For NuTr

Not just a padded seat cover, but a padded toilet seat cover. Star Trek Beyond will truly take us where no one has gone before: into an Enterprise bathroom. :D

I'm certain bathrooms are shown in crew quarters on TNG. Granted, you don't actually see toilets in there but I assume they are hidden in the wall like the sinks (basins in the US?) are shown to be.
