Is the Movie Adaption Out Yet

I was wondering why Foster was chosen rather than JM Dillard again? I'm not complaining he's a fantastic writer but who chose him? Pocket? The screenwriters? I heard they treated him like a rock star when he attended a screening of the actual flick so it makes me wonder if it wasn't their idea or JJ's.

I'm not an authority on Foster's work - from what I've read of his I'd hate to drag that albatross around. There are many authors who can even be found here who would have in my estimation done a far better job of the deal. In fact I don't see any names in here I recognize I would not have chosen over Foster. (Sorry about double neg - in other words I would have chosen any author in here over Foster).

Well, everyone knows that it should have went to either Christopher L. Bennett, David Mack, or Keith R.A. DeCandido should have been given the assignment - CLB blew up two worlds, David Mack decimated the Federation, and KRAD wiped out an entire universe.

If you are going to wipe out arguably the second-most-imporant planet in TREK, one of these three proven planetkillers should have been given the job... ;)

Hey, I wiped out all life in the galaxy once! Sure, it was 250 million years ago, but it still counts.

Wow. I love Alan Dean Foster, and as much as I love the trek authors here, I think ADF was the best choice for the novelization. Loved the novel, too.

And for people who grew up with only Blish and Foster episode adaptations in the 70s, some who never branched off into original ST fiction, it was certainly a nostalgic choice!
