Don't know about Odo, but other Changelings can presumably put out human odors. Otherwise, Starfleet wouldn't need blood tests or phaser sweeps, they'd just enlist a bunch of pooches.

That's a method of detecting Humans, not a method of detecting Changlings. You'd need the equivalent for every single species in SF/found on Earth. That's tribbles for Klingons etc. etc. Blood tests applied to everyone seems a lot simpler and stops people screaming about "discrimination" when "only" people who don't pass the dog test (tribble test, whatever) have to have blood tests.

German Shephards, Golden Retrievers, and the Husky are probably my three favorite types of dogs. It was a gorgeous Dog.

That's a good point. Would Odo smell like a normal dog, when encountering other dogs?

If he's bad at human faces, he could be bad at dog smells as well.

Dialogue in Paradise Lost implies he couldn't fool the other seagulls.

I've kind of assumed that over time Odo's paradigm shifted from being unable to replicate a human face to feeling no need to replicate a human face. He replicates the female Founder in S7.

I'd assume that, too. It may have started out as simply being insufficiently experienced to mimic faces properly. In later years, he perhaps could but he may have chosen to keep that face because he felt comfortable enough with it, or perhaps to remind people he was not like them, or perhaps to distance himself from the other Founders, who manipulated other races by impersonating key figures. (If the latter is the case, it would be ironic the Female Founder mimicked his template).
