Is the Enterprise in ST XI?

Kpnuts

Surely if it takes place many years before TOS the Enterprise can't be in the film?

It can if someone else commands it. Canonically, that would be Pike.

Some part of the movie could take place during the 5ym, of course--they seem intent on casting all of the central 7. If it is a time travel movie, it could take place in time periods, plural.

The Enterprise appears in the new Star Trek movie. It's the dominant location, in fact.

It's been refurbished and upgraded since Archer commanded it, and is now designated NXX-1-A.

Armament now includes 5000-terawatt mega-x phasers that can rip the Death Star in two.

Now I'm psyched! :bolian:

(Of course, if Kirk's gonna be on it, shouldn't it be NXXX? You know, three Xs, like a dirty movie? Because everyone knows, all Kirk ever did in TOS was screw green space ladies. My biggest regret is that B&B weren't around in the sixties to show those idiots how to make good tv.)

That Quantum Hull Plating is some mean-ass shit!

Quantum Hull plating? Does it go back and forth in time, becoming the shields of other starships, putting right what once went wrong, hoping each polarization will be the polarization back home?

If Dean Stockwell and his little boingy-boingy Merlin thing are in it, I'm so there!

Trekmovie.com interview with executive director and co-writer Roberto Orci

TrekMovie.com: Does this respect for canon cover both the script and the approach to the designs, such as the Enterprise.

Roberto Orci: So many of the design decisions are so faithful to what it was, much more faithful that you might imagine. We are trying to be so true to The Original Series in both look and the characterizations. And the Enterprise design is awesome.

So, yes.
