Are they trying to line themselves up as the "apple computers" equivalent of a car company?

I mean, they have a great design and well built product. They have a very similar look at their market and the field of operation...

And now there is this news

George Blankenship, the strategic genius behind Apple's booming retail segment, lasted only a year attempting to jumpstart a similar effort at rival Microsoft before being lured away from the software giant to architect the retail experience for upstart Tesla Motors.

So, Tesla is going to forgo the franchise dealership model of the whole us and set up corporate owned and operated retail centers, and it gets the guy who set up apple's retail division to do it.

I'm thinking about going out and buying some Tesla stock myself...

No, on the simple grounds I doubt they'll ever try to take over the world.

They have a strategic partnership deal which say Toyota buy some stock, but they didn't buy the company.
