is Stargate dead for good?

The moon base mentioned in Continuum probably.

I don't think that was meant to be taken seriously, on the commentary they say it was just something they came up with on the day. I think it's more likely they moved Atlantis to the dark side of the Moon or something.

Just curious what the peanut gallery has to say. What do you think will happen? What do you think should happen?

What happens will happen most likely without Richard Dean Anderson. I saw him on Fairly Legal a couple days ago. He looked terrible. Has he been sick? He's like twice the size he used to be.

I think he put on loads of weight when he had an operation on his foot, and then never really lost it all again.

Based on how he looked in Continuum and his SGU appearances, I wouldn't say RDA is dangerously overweight. Bigger than he used to be, sure, but there comes a point where we all gain weight we would prefer not to.

IMHO, he looked a lot worse in Fairly Legal. His head appeared to be swollen, and they only shot him sitting in a dark bar, maybe because his character was meant to be mysterious, however, the way he looked reminded me a lot of my dad when he was being treated for cancer.

He looked pretty swollen in his appearances in SGU too. Hopefully he shapes up if possible if they go ahead with the next SG-1 movie, which apparently is based heavily (no pun intended) around his character. Although it's not looking like he'll have to worry about that.

Last I heard, he'd had several problems with his feet, underwent at least two operations and was on steroids (maybe for R.A.?). That would account for some significant weight gain. Being laid up AND on steroids would make anyone swell up like a balloon. All that, plus age, would change his appearance.

But, it really does seem unlikely that they will continue with any of the SG franchises, at least for the time being.

I think if they did do a movie, they should sort of combine the SG-1 & Atlantis casts. Keep Teal'c, Vala, & Daniel Jackson with SG-1, and then have Col. Sheppard replace Col. Mitchell and Dr. McKay take over SG-1's science-geek role since Col. Carter is now commanding the Hammond.

A Stargate movie without Carter in a prominent role? As much as I'd love to see that, I think Wright, Cooper, Mallozzi, et al., are far too enamored with the character (:barf:) to ever let that actually happen, barring a franchise reboot.

I didn't say she wouldn't have a prominent role in the movie. I'm sure there would be a bunch of stuff with her commanding the Hammond. I just think that, since she's not a member of SG-1 anymore, they should bring in Dr. McKay to be the new official science guy for SG-1.
