I was excited about this movie, but y'know, I'm starting to think it's a little too awesome. Star Trek shouldn't be awesome.
It should have only one style: The style desired by the true fans of Trek, The style of Fanon Treknobabble. This movie is disregarding a lot of dearly loved fanon assumptions. Dearly loved by an overwhelming 5% of Trek fans. Worse, it even violates a few ideas Roddenberry mentioned once or twice but never bothered to actually show anywhere in Trek. It's ignoring minor characters that only appeared once. That's totally unreasonable.
Magic treknology is not working the way it should in these trailers!
There appears to be just too much awesomeness in this movie. Frankly, that means we fans are getting the shaft.
Damn you for giving us the classic Trek characters again, Abrams! And to think we could've seen the further adventures of Captain Chakotay and the USS WUNDERTECH. Sigh.
Anyway, what say you? Is STXI too awesome for us?
