Is Revenge of the Fallen a good blind buy?

Comes out today, just wondering if it's worth buying even though I missed it at the cinemas.

I really liked the first film, and have been a Transformers fan as long as I can remember. I heard mixed reviews about it though.

I loved the first one, but have no desire to see the second one again. Even as a "dumb summer movie", I found it pretty much unwatchable after the first 20 minutes or so.

I love TF's and yet I was disappointed in the new film. Still I feel honor bound (mainly because Optimus Prime is on the cover, and yes, his scenes are all good) to get the film. I can justify it by saying the other than Trek, I don't think there are a lot of films coming on DVD that I will buy.

The first one was "ok" for me, but I'd never want to watch the sequel again.
Pretty gash IMO. Jar Jar Binks' position as "most annoying character" in cinema has definitely been usurped by those two fucking Autobot twins. Jesus wept

I personally don't consider it owning unless you have boys or (tomboys) in the house 10 and under who like bright colors and robots and have a short attention span....

(Which I do - so I'll be subjected to this movie way more than I want to...again and again and *again*...but even as a "fun giant robot movie" - which I was *hoping* this would be - I think it falls way short of being "fun", imho...even the *first* time...)

If you want to watch a 2 1/2 movie that feels like 3 1/2 hours, this is the film for you.

There was some stuff in it I liked but I don't think I'll be picking it up on Blu-ray.

Let me put it this way: I paid $3 to see it at a discount movie theatre and I still feel like I was overcharged by about 10 bucks.

I really can't say if you'll like it or not, but personally I thought it was a terrible film, with sophomoric humour, a mess of a script, occasionally hard-to-follow action sequences, and a preponderance of characters I couldn't give a rat's ass about.

For comparison, I thought the first Transformers movie was generally mediocre, but watchable and even entertaining in places. It did have some noticeable flaws, however, all of which are pretty much repeated and intensified in Revenge of the Fallen.

That's pretty much my opinion of the first movie. For obvious reasons, I didn't bother with the sequel.

It isn't as good as the first one. The two twin dumbass transformers suck pretty bad. They are painful.

I saw the first one once and that was enough, the only reason I want to see this one is because Jetfire is in it and thats it.

I think I'm buying it. I loved the sophmoric humor in the first movie. I steel crack up at the words: "Sleep well, handsome man!" Shit they could make it two hours with the Witwicky parents and I'd watch it. I suppose I've just outed myself as the squarest man on Earth. ;)

I enjoyed it so much because of how bad it was. After seeing it, I just remember laughing a lot about how ridiculous some of the scenes were.

So I'd definitely watch it, but be prepared to judge the hell out of it. In fact, it might make an awesome drinking game.

Oh, heck yeah. My friends warned me away from it like the plague, but once I actually watched it, it was so over-the-top that it made a full circle and became good again. I mean, Sam goes to robot heaven and sees transformer angels? Damn. Definitely one of my top "guilty pleasure" movies.

Actually, while I'd probably agree the first was the better film, I actually enjoyed this one more.

So shoot me.
