Is Jack more likeable this season?

So, the general consensus is that Jack was likable as the series first started, but then he became very unlikable. Are we back to him being likable again? It seems that these last few episodes especially, he seems to be more humbled, and just less of a jackass. I think maybe finally his character seems likable and welcomed again, he's actually helpful.

Or maybe its just cause Kate isn't around.

I think Jack's journey as a character has always been engaging, and have never really disliked him. Actually, early in season 1 I didn't like the way Fox was portraying him for some reason, but these days whenever I re-watch those eps I think he's great. The Man of Science becoming the Man of Faith has generally been a very well-done story, and little scenes like his bit this week with Sun and the notebook remind us that he used to be the "Leader." After his turn at not being in control last season, it's nice to see him sort of coming full circle, even if I don't really think he's at all sure what, exactly, he's leading his people to.

Jack is only irritating when the love triangle comes into it. Otherwise, I like him and I've really enjoyed his character arc on rewatch. He's one of my favorites.

I think he's good in the leader role, when he has at least some idea of what's going on and/or what he wants to do. When he's not in control, he either flies off the handle or goes into whiny annoying mode...both are pretty irritating to watch. The most recent example of this was the bits in the lighthouse last month. I just wanted to punch him and tell him to shut up. You're not the centre of the universe, Jack!

I've actually always liked his character. This season especially, ever since he found out he has a destiny, he seems like he's taken on a new swagger. He's even smiled in this last episode, which hasn't happened in a long time.

I think the place he's at now as a character, basically assuming Locke's old role, is interesting and does make him a more likable character.

I've always liked the actor and the character was always interesting but he was so impulsive in the early seasons, almost as bad as Kate. He was pretty unsympathetic at times, but I could always identify that he was trying to do the right thing, even if he wasn't thinking things through properly.

Once Jack's nuke plan "failed," I think he realized he was a giant douche who really had no idea what he was doing. As a result, he's been a lot less Angry Jack and has actually been trying to listen to his friends.

Once Jack's nuke plan "failed,".

I've seen said many times on this board as "Jack's plan" but correct me if I'm wrong, wasn't it Faraday who actually came up with the idea?

Well, yeah, but Jack was the one who believed it instantly and insisted on doing it and convinced everyone else that it was the right thing to do.

Yeah but the point remains. All this animosity directed at Jack over the nuke is misdirected. He believed it because a physicist told him so. He didn't just dream it up on his own and say "Hey guys, we should blow up a nuke because it would be kewl!" Faraday was the one who hatched the scheme, Jack was just the errand boy at the point.

This is my opinion as well.

He has become more likable to me since he hasn't been running through the jungle acting like an angsty teenager.

Well, Faraday is dead, so it's hard to get mad at him. They need someone to blame for the nuke, and since Jack is alive and was the one who persuaded them all to go along with it, it's very easy to blame him.

I don't think Jack's changed. His latest promise to Sun seems to indicate that. "Sun, I promise if you come with me we'll find Jin, get off the island, and fart rainbows." He's still the same old Jack, making promised he doesn't know he can keep.

He's not running around yelling and making crazy Jackfaces at everybody. I call it an improvement.

I think the last scene of the show should be a flashsideways of Jack getting his tattoo removed by the same girl who put it on him (but for some reason they've never met) and her going, "Leader, my ass."

LOST

Much the same, as far as I'm concerned. Then again, just as I've never understood the Kate hate (and am completely and utterly bewildered by the Sawyer love), I've never understood the Jack hate either so I'm probably not the one to ask.
