Ok, so for the 50th Anniversary of Star Trek, I decided to buy this (http://trekcore.com/blog/2016/09/review-star-trek-50th-anniversary-blu-ray-collection/). Having only ever watched TNG, I wanted to get both collect a cool collection and watch TOS all in one go (other then 1 episode and the first 3 movies, TOS is new to me).
So in Australia I picked up the collection, on special and opened it literally 10 minutes ago to.......a watered down collection.
Outside the Box which is almost identical, the discs are just stored in a HUGE plastic holder, with the movies, bonus disc and TAS being separate in their own normal Blu-Ray boxes. Plus the six vector-graphic movie prints in plastic to the side.
No Badge, no fancy packaging outside the box and no real indication of a 50 year collection outside it printed on the box and generic disc boxes.
So other then the bonus disc items, is keeping this worth it? Netflix has TOS streaming, along with the TAS and without the collection, disgarding TAS, I could buy all this just over 3 dollars more then what I paid today, and that included EVERY movie, not just TOS.
The disc boxes are generic (I can provide pictures if needed), the discs look to be the same as whats already out (the listed review described episodes listed on the labels, but thats not here) and the box is as cheap as you can get.
I understand I got it cheaper then I expected(128, down from 160, normal listed price was 200 something), however the box is literally the same as the actual box in all the other reviews, press releases and more, and I never noticed anything that would have implied the one I bought was not the universal one (however when I opened it, I was embarrassed the price did not catch my eye to it being different).
So ultimately my question is, is what I got worth keeping, or am I more better TRYING (its un-sealed to a LOT of hassle will be involved) to get a refund. Is what is included worth keeping for the 50th Anniversary (or just as a collection of TOS) or shall I just Stream it until I can pick up a copy of the real edition (probably online for 3x more)
Like I said, even outside of streaming, I could pay 3-4 dollars more for everything in this minus TAS and get all the movies, not just TOS films and I just feel cheated having paid this, for what is a very watered down feeling collection for the 50th (even if I stupidly did not consider the cheaper price being different)
here is the link to the website who sold my copy (I brought it in store however) for those interested:https://www.jbhifi.com.au/movies-tv...-50th-anniversary-tv-movie-collection/973245/
Yes I just noticed it never said the Pin (magnet, whatever) was not included, but these descriptions have left out items before and it was always included.
tl;dr over-paid kinda for a complete TOS collection with 50th Anniversary bonus features included, worth keeping or try to take it back to gain the one presented EVERYWHERE else.
