Is it time to reboot Farscape?

If there comparing them that can be a good thing because it means people are intrested. Plus I wonder if we might be seeing more space based shows with Star wars a hit, Guardian of the galaxy and hopefullu the new trek. that alone might spark some intrest in reboot along the lines about how there is even talk of firefly coming back.

Jason
I would love some more space opera, but given the choice I'd rather get some new, or at least an adaptation of something that hasn't been done before.
Why not do both new stuff but also revist stuff we have liked in the past?
Jason
Because it's already been done. I could see if this was some old show like Lost in Space that would be done in a totally different style, but Farscape is so recent that I really can't see a new version being different enough to make it worth doing.
Don't get me wrong, Farscape is one of my favorite shows of all time, but we already got four seasons, a miniseries, 3 novels, several short stories, 3 post PK-Wars comic miniseries, a 24 issue ongoing comic series, 3 pre-PK Wars D'Argo comic miniseries, and a 7 issue post-PK Wars Scorpius miniseries. So if you want more Farscape there are places to get it without bringing back the TV series.
Having said all that, I would definitely check out a new series, it just wouldn't be my first choice.

Why would Farscape need to be rebooted? What was so wrong with the first time?
Rebooting is not always the same as Remaking and something doesn't need to be flawed to do either. TNG was a Reboot of Star Trek. Moore's BSG was a Remake. Neither serve to disparage the original work.

Why not do both new stuff but also revist stuff we have liked in the past? Great thing about tv today there is room for every possible story to be told. I do consider this the golden age of tv because we all have so many options to us. We got adult drama, comic book shows, comedies that are more than just crappy 80's style sitcom crap. Only thing missing is the space opera's.
Jason

But they don't have funding for every possible story in a genre that's a risk. Money that goes toward reboots and remakes comes out of the money that would go to original stories.

As much as I would love to see the same actors doing this I also hold Farscape as something special as it was - an under-appreciated show just like Firefly and so many others. Science fiction shows just don't gain enough traction most of the time. What would be interesting is a more substantial series of novels that could bring the characters back to life for a lower budget. And since I brought it up....if they offered you the choice between bringing back Farscape or Firefly...which would you want back??

A new series, set 13 years after PKW, following the adventures and hi jinks of D'Argo Crichton-Sun as he navigates his way through the emotional and physical travails of Peacekeeper High.

Overshadowed by the legend of his father, Peace Negotiator John Crichton, watch as D'Argo muddles his way through juggling JV marksmanship, AP Xenobiology, his after-school job at the local Fast-Food Cube restaurant and his on-off again relationship with the Peacekeeper's first Scarren student, the beautiful, but hot-to-the-touch and emotionally fraught Hella.

Thankfully D'Argo's best friend, Axim, has always got his back - a, freewheeling, gaseous Sheyang with a insatiable appetite and explosive personality. And who can forget his trusty DRD, 1812-The Second, ever at his side, though not always in one piece! D'Argo certainly doesn't have it easy and things only get more complicated when a new, mysterious Head Teacher, Dr S. Corpius, arrives at the school, taking an interest in his life, future and Wormhole Physics Class.

Can D'Argo keep his head above water in this strange, bizarre part of the galaxy? And why hasn't his illustrious father returned from his latest mission in the Uncharted Territories as expected? Does the answer lie within himself, or in the vast expanse of the universe Dr Corpius encourages D'Argo to explore?

New to 2017, this modern twist on a Science Fiction classic will launch on internet streaming giant Hulu's new platform "Hulu XTreme" in the fall, with subscriptions to this event series available through selected sub-reddits during the summer. Don't miss out on the years most explosive new SF Teen adventure series, airing for 11 weeks as and when we feel like it. Tuesdays, Saturday's, or possibly Mondays at anytime we can bother to upload it.

Hugo - cancelled on episode 3

Good continuations of Babylon 5 and Farscape are sorely needed. You think it would be easy with all the streaming models available today and crowdfunding.

A continuation series with most of the original cast would be fine. In this case, a reboot is unnecessary. It wasn't the concept of Farscape that was so original it was the style of the show and the actors themselves that made it good. The show itself was basically Flash Gordon or Buck Rogers. Any reboot might as well just be an original series. Shows like BSG and LiS are programs where the concept was great but the execution left a lot to be desired. Remakes for these shows make a lot more sense.

I would prefer more of it, rather than a reboot.
Frankly, Guardians of the Galaxy has plenty of similarities with Farscape...so TV studios might be scared it would just be seen as a knock-off.
Hardly. When "Battleship" was announced or game out, there was a Syfy movie of the week called "American Warships" or something like that. Same thing with the Syfy original series "Z Nation" and the "Walking Dead."

Precisely.

Personally, I would love to see an original science fiction work with similar production values, and puppets for aliens. It creates such a unique feel to the series that I would enjoy it thoroughly.

Though, I'm also hoping that the new Dune project/film/series/whatever utilizes a puppet of some kind for the Navigator, but that's probably too much to ask in the world of CG.

Why reboot it? If they did, they would inevitably replace all the practical effects with CGI and the show would never be the same. I am not opposed to having more of a sequel series though, the world they had built was truly inspired in its creativity and originality, but only if they used puppetry as well, preferably with the Jim Henson Creature Company; they are the best in the business after all.

I wouldn't mind CGI but I also would like puppetry to still be used. I kind of like the idea of doing both. I would want Rygel to be a puppet but I think it would be nice if you could use CGI to give him more mobility.

I thought the best thing going for it were the characters and relationships. Some of the storylines and multi-parters were a bit tedious. A continuation would definitely work better due to the history between characters. Would also like to see a bit more of the world itself, like D'Argo's homeworld.

I didn't think of that, yeah I would have no problem if they used computer animation to enhance the effects instead of replace them, no problem at all. Still, I've never seen a mixture of the two, at least to my memory, which was the main reason for my ignorance, but it could definitely work.

Actually their is a scene in early in season 1 where you get to see him walk but I think that must have been the only time they ever did it. We did get to see him swim because of CGI in "Peacekeeper Wars." Another good use of CGI I think would be maybe in enhancing the sets. It would be nice if they had more than the one same corridor, filmed at different angles when showing all the different places on Moya.

Jason

I'd just make a new, completely bonkers space opera. Farscape was great, but I don't feel any need for a continuation of those characters or plots.
