Is it time for naked aliens on "Discovery"?

I mean there is no reason for aliens to feel the need to drape themselves in clothing. That is a earth custom so why would aliens always have the same custom? Maybe the Doug Jones alien could walk around naked t times, when he is off duty and so forth.

Well... clothing developed as protection from the elements. It doesn't seem outrageous that aliens would do the same.

It goes both ways. Starships are climate controlled, humans don't really need to wear clothes either.

So we're talking a Star Trek/"Lifeforce" crossover? :)

So has it finally gotten to the point where you're just posting whatever random thought comes into your head? I appreciate your enthusiasm about the new Trek series, but really, naked aliens?

There are always going to be people who, and I say this with all due respect, should NEVER be seen naked.

And also people who don't want to BE seen naked either.

Besides, it would just be kind of weird, everyone walking around naked all the time. Even Gene Roddenberry's "new humans" were only a small proportion of the population in Trek's time. It's not like everyone would (or should) do it.

Random thoughts are the best thoughts because you never know what they are going to be. Granted every thought a human being has is a random thought, since nobody can predict what will be going inside their head at any point in are future so we might as well try and expand and explore all the possibilities the new show might offer before reality comes in and ruins things by trying to do things that are expected. Never forget that reality is the enemy of life because it usually sucks.

You know what could be fun is something I saw on the "Babylon 5" spinoff "Crusade" and that had one of the character's watching alien porn? Why not have something like that in "Discovery?" I mean the character's will need hobies and whatnot so why not allow them to have some more realistic hobbies as oposed to playing a flute or listening to classical music. DS9 actually sort of got this idea going with QUark's Holosuite's which were treated much like porn places in the early season's and even sometimes in the later season's. I would love to see "Vulcan Love Slave" in the flesh so to speak after so much talk about it from Quark. I even kind of like the idea that Vulcan Love slave was invented by that Ferengi on "Enterprise" played by Jeffrey Combs and the program revolves around him and Jolene Blaylock doing a cameo as the Vulcan Love slave.
You get some Ferengi humor and cameo's by Blaylock and Comb's and some sexiness not to mention you can get a joke out of the fact that nobody knows what a Ferengi is and they are al confused by someting like Ooo mahix.

Star Trek had near nude female aliens before, it's no biggie. You'd be surprised with some of the stuff they got away with from the background alien bar patrons and dabo girls.

Please no more gratuitous decontamination shower scenes and the like. If there has to be nudity, it should be integral to the story and not merely shoehorned in for titillation -- that includes Betazed wedding ceremonies. Personally, I have no desire to watch a space opera set in a nudist colony.

This really, star trek has always had some degree of titillation involved, but frankly what makes it great lies elsewhere. I've got Google, I don't need trek in order to see boobs just for the sake of it. Nor frankly does the entertainment industry really need another show selling itself on how far the sex scenes go or how much of a naked body we see.

Anything is fine as long it serves the story. I actually wouldn't mind a scene where everyone in the scene is topless to kind of point out in the future no one gives a shit. But at the same time I realise that's probably really difficult to pull off without looking like titillation or because people give too much of a shit. I keep thinking of the shower scene from Starship Troopers where girls and guys are showering nude and no one cares. But also, how does this serve the story aside from some background world building?
Also, sure naked aliens, but wouldn't naked alien soldiers still wear some kind of uniform or armour whatever so they don't get shot in the junk or whatever.
