What I don't understand is the growing phobia people seem to have these days about actually calling people.
I don't understand it either. Like we don't spend enough time already communicating in writing on screens as opposed to actually hearing a voice or seeing a face. We are getting more impersonal by the moment, and I find it to be quite sad.
Texting serves the same purpose as email, really, and is just as useful. Often, I don't actually want or need to speak to someone, just to send them a brief one or two line message to ask/confirm something or let them know something. Instead of emailing, I text because even with the growing penetrance of email-accessible smartphones, the average person is still more likely to read a text first. Fast, simple, efficient.
