Is it just me, or is Star Trek going the wrong way?

Indeed. DSC's jump to the future was ridiculous and didn't "fix" anything. Fans would complain if a prequel didn't look a particular way, to various degrees. DSC going to the future isn't going to change that. And hasn't thus far.
Put some naked women with a casting couch in that military unit and Gene will make them part of his vision.
Other than military. More than military. Paramilitary. To back up my claims, I'm going to list everything the minutiae militia does that militaries do but put on a dance about how it's lazy to call them military despite the fact that, yeah that's totally what they are.
For me, I felt that Discovery was getting better throughout the first two seasons - jettisoning the misdirections from Fuller and whatever other stranger ideas that they had for this "21st century" Trek show. However, I don't think season 3 was an improvement. I agree that the characters and actors were never issues, but I still feel like season-long story arcs and the large-scale plots are the weakest elements of the writers room and the character bits and emotional story bits are the strongest. And thus those elements were the weakest and strongest elements of season 3, respectively. The justification behind the Burn was, frankly, silliness straight out of season three of TOS and undercut what was supposed to be a monumental event for the whole quadrant. Osyraa and the bag guys were the weakest of villains, laughable in the end. The strongest element was the new head of Starfleet, Vance, and the new Federation stuff, but there wasn't enough of that. also, unfortunately, some of the new character storylines (Gray and Adira) didn't work for me and Burhnam's journey seemed underdeveloped/underjustified (again).
I should go back and do a rewatch to try to get a little more clarity and see if anything works better for me the second time around.
I wonder how I will feel about season 4 - hope i get back to really enjoying it each week.
Is that the only category of fans that exists? People want different things and do you know what? That's fine. It doesn't mean they're wrong, as I see a lot of people try and point out online.

As long as it's not your favorite. I mean...come on. Gotta have basic standards here, all of us. 
1 and 3 are about equal for me.......2 was several notches above those two.
2, 1, 3 for me. 3 was ok from a story point of view but the time jump irritates me.
3, 2, 1 for me. The seasons have gotten progressively better.
Dammit why can't everyone just agree with me.
I prefer season 2 of Disco.

I still can't get past the part where they included Michael in the meeting planning how to capture the Red Angel when they thought she was going to be the Red Angel.
