Is it hard for you to get comfortable?

I'm probably the only weird one here but I could never get comfortable. I can't sit still for a minute and I'm not exaggerating. I would find a good position to read or watch tv and plan to not move for the next hour but somewhere, somehow, a part of my body would start complaining. It could be my back, my neck, my legs, my bum ... they're so annoying.

I got no problems getting comfy, but then I spend a lot of my disposable (and non-disposable) income on beer.

The sauce will cover a multitude of sins, comfort wise, though it catches up to yeh one way or another.

"Ah, beer, the cause of and solution to all of life's problems..." :)

I find classical music that's not too bombastic and not too loud often helps.

Yes, largely because I'm so tall and this world (and its furniture) is designed for short people.

^Nah, it's designed for just right people. I'm a short person and it's definitely not designed for me. I have several strategies for fetching items from the top shelf at the grocery store.

I've found that my ability to get comfortable is directly related to my eating and exercise habits. If I eat heavy or unhealthy foods for awhile, and get less exercise than I'm used to, it's manifested in achy, annoying, discomfort. When I've been diligent in my exercise (yoga particularly), I am able to get comfortable more quickly and easily -- in a bed or chair.

Have you ever tried yoga? It's like a massage you give yourself. You'll feel so comfortable!

^Yoga ?

I would post :guffaw: smilies but I don't think I could post them in sufficient numbers to convey just how wrong the idea of me and Yoga is. :)

Well, the yoga suggestion was intended more for the OP. ;) Still, it might not be as wrong as you think. When you can bend like a slinky it's easy to get comfortable in many a place.

Nope. I once fell asleep at sea, sitting up, on a freezer. I was somewhat uncomfortable when I woke up though, took a week or so before my back was normal again.

Well, sort of. I'm pretty tall, so I have trouble being comfortable in many cars, and many seats in buses.

Yeah, I have trouble getting relaxed in bed. I have to lay down on my left side or else I can't get to sleep.

I have to already be completely exhausted and on the verge of passing out, otherwise it takes me about an hour of tossing and turning before I even start to fall asleep.

I've developed an alarming ability to take longer-than-anticipated naps even with the bedroom light on, myself.

I can never get comfortable. Part of it could be an alignment of things, such where I am now as the laptop isn't in the most comfortable position with my chair, but without buying a new desk I'm pretty screwed there...

...though part of it would be down to back and neck problems. My backs taking a battering and I did some damage to my neck a few years ago which puts me in quite a bit of pain most of the time (whenever I'm awake) so comfort is a rare thing.

As for sleep - I find it difficult to rest my mind so I tend not to be able to sleep without having a DVD on. For some reason it helps me rest - but only if it's a DVD I know off by heart. Otherwise I'll get into it and watch the whole thing.

Bloody hell... Now you've got that song in my head ("What goes down stairs, alone or in pairs, and makes a slinkety sound..."). Thanks a lot! :p

Come to my store and I guarantee you will have our entire workforce stumbling all over themselves to help you. :)

Me, I do have a hard time getting comfortable. I toss and turn for awhile when I get into bed at night. Although I do sometimes fall asleep on the couch...

Yes, I do have a hard time with it. I can't sit still without feeling weird or itchy. I guess people would say I have a very tense body...I hate massages and never let them happen to me, and when someone instructs me to relax it makes me feel very uncomfortable and I have to be more active with my body to compensate. Example: when you go to hypnotist shows and the hypnotist asks the audience to relax and clear their mind, etc. it makes me feel icky to think of doing that so I start fidgeting a lot.

The only time this isn't the case is when I've been drinking. Then I can sit still for quite a while without even realizing it.

It's also uncomfortable for me to sit with good posture. Two of the vertebrae on my back are fused and I have some scoliosis going on, so it makes it feel very unnatural to sit with my back straight. This makes leaning back in chairs uncomfortable because they always rub on my spine. I sit (and walk) slightly hunched over and that feels the best.

Whenever I try to relax in this way, I become very aware of my heart beat, so to the point where I can actually feel my blood pumping through my veins (especially in my wrists and neck), and it feels weird and icky, so I have to force myself to move around to make the feeling go away.

It's only when I'm completely exhausted or distracted by something else that this isn't the case.

I don't have any problems at all. When I was bigger (read: fat) I used to get problems from time to time with clothes. These days I don't have any problems.
